What filler to use on Polyester body

Graeme, for what its worth, I used a complete system from Spies Hecker (a DuPont company) on my GT40, and am just about done on my 71 Corvette. Guidance came from the guy helping me with the Vette - he has been doing restos for over 15 years & has developed the following "Golden Rules" for...

    Jokes anyone? -

We had a power outage at my place this morning and my PC, laptop, TV, DVD, iPad & my new surround sound music system all shut down. Then I discovered that my iPhone battery was flat and to top it off it was raining, so I couldn't play golf. I went into the kitchen to make coffee and then I...

    Tether Cars

Yep - they are amazing ! They have been around for a long time - I remember going to the Model Engineer's park in Sydney when I was about 10 years old & being stunned by them. I re-visited the park with my grandchildren some 45 years later, & there they were again (but probably a lot faster)...

    Swaging / beading pipes

For what its worth, I found that the easiest way was to take the pipes to an exhaust specialist & get them to put a simple flair on the last 1/4" of the pipes. All good exhaust guys have a flairing machine, & only takes about a minute per flair - so cheap ! Kind Regards, Peter D.

    The Screamer Returns!

This one still gets me - it's the 1950'3 V16 BRM. 585hp out of 1.5 litres, redlined at 14,000rpm. One of the few engine sounds that encompass the stirring base sounds at low revs. then goes insane at high revs. I have never managed to find any decent video footage, but this is a series of...

    Americas Cup

Absolutely, definitely a fixed keel - just a different shape & all within the rules !

    Best drivers in the world.

Pete, its strange that you should come to exactly the same conclusion about British (& Scottish) drivers as we did during our trip to Goodwood in 2008 !! The "keep in the left lane unless overtaking" thing was automatic, & courtesy was the norm during our treck from Scotland down to Goodwood &...

Getting fuel from both tanks with one pump.

This is the way I did it - standard DRB setup with a change-over valve in front of a single LP lift pump, then to swirl pot, then to HP pump & rails. The change-over valve takes care of LP return feeds. The change-over valve is an Ashdown 6 port fuel valve 27-90106 (Harness = 27-90107)...

    JIM C ALLOY BODIED GT40

Jim, your wife might just be right !! A sundial for someone who gets up at 4am to do metal-work is a little problematical !! Beautiful work on the sundial pedestal - looking forward to some more pics of the '40. Kind Regards, Peter D.

    Jokes anyone? -

Someone once asked me, “What is your job?" I replied, "I am my wife's sex advisor." Visibly shocked, he said, "I beg your pardon, but what do you mean by that?" "Very simple: my wife has told me that when she wants my fucking advice, she'll ask me for it!”

    Jokes anyone? -

Paddy's pregnant sister was in a terrible car accident and went into a deep coma. After nearly six months, she woke up and saw that she was no longer pregnant. Frantically she asked the doctor about her baby. The doctor replied, "You had twins, a boy and a girl. The babies are fine. However...

    JIM C ALLOY BODIED GT40

Jim, every time you post, my jaw drops further !! As to the commitment to finish the body & go into "maintenance mode" - I know what that means - make room for the P4 !!! Kind Regards, Peter D.

What's the best way to bleed the heater core?

Chris - much the same solution as Jim C. Heater input spigot angle at 45deg to the flow to divert into the heater, & 45deg spigot on the downstream pipe to suck from the heater. Not perfect or fast, but it does work ok ! Kind Regards, Peter D.

    Speed or revival?

Pete, the Revival - end of story ! I was lucky enough to manage a visit in 2008 & words fail me when trying to describe the atmosphere, let alone the mind-boggling array of cars being given "a bit of stick" on the track, the historic aircraft on display & in the air, etc. A stand-out for...

    Watch this space!

Spin, deflection & denial - just amazing ! I have been following Larry Pickering avidly and have also wondered why the mainstream press (& the Liberals) have been so reluctant to pick it up. The Press : threats of censorship (amongst other threats), etc The Liberals : Maybe there is a...
