    Engine noise

John, I know the feeling. A noise in the engine that you had never noticed before and the uncertainties begin to mount. It can ruin a perfectly good driving experience. I had a similar experience when I first drove my GT40. I could hear a definite tapping that got louder under load. Turned out...

Re: 3 piece 17\" wheel for sale OK Ross, so what happened? Was it at the Sandown meeting on Cup day? Hope the damage is limited to the wheel only.

What is the build and delivery time of your RF?

It must be so difficult for the manufacturers of GT40s and like cars. The potential owners are so passionate and enthusiastic about the car, but such passion is a double edged sword. It gives the owners the highest of highs and the lowest lows. This is just normal human behaviour but I guess...

    Brake pad replacement

Can somebody please jolt my memory as to how to get the front brake pads out of the PBR calipers? I know that you remove something and the caliper then pivots away from the rotor, but what do you remove and which direction does it pivot? Its been nearly 4 years since I fitted these things...

    RF # 018 at Phillip Island 18th Sept 05

Talking about GT40s (plural) on the track, I just got back from a weekend as a timing official at the Winton 6 Hr. I think it might be about time to organize a team of GT40s for the event next year. Somebody needs to show up those rascally Porsche teams Besides, as Bill suggested previously...

    RF # 018 at Phillip Island 18th Sept 05

Thanks Bill and Hersh. Some great shots there too. My first real chance to get "The '40" on the track and my first time back on the track after a 4 year break. And what a daunting track PI is too able to get up to 240kmh up the front straight (or so said my speedo). Getting your car on the track...

    Work Dolly

Bill, It looks very similar to the one I build and it worked well. Just one other piece of advice. Buy castors with a locking mechanism. Nothing worse than having the job wheel away from you when you are pushing against it for whatever reason.

    Porsche GT3 vs GT40

[ QUOTE ] The GT40 is not an easy car to drive. [/ QUOTE ] The original GT40 was a very easy car to drive according to the reports of the day. Ken Miles was quoted as saying. “When properly set up, this is the easiest car in the world to drive” (Ford GT40 Golden portfolio 1964 -1987) but...

OK, You guys fess up..I want to know...

Just a lateral thought, assuming that the sole aim here is the ability to more easily extract yourself from the car when space is limited. There is a simpler solution (and is probably less blasphemous). It should be (relatively) inexpensive and easy to design a hinge system that sits between...

    A1GP Series

Russ, Try this site A1GP. At the time of writing this post, it only contained the results for the first of two races. Watched it on Foxtel last night and yes, you were correct Rus, the Kiwis were very impressive. The meeting comprised of two races, a minor one which set the grid positions for...

    Acetone as a gasoline additive?

35% is not believable but move the decimal point one place to the left and the concept is not ridiculous. The idea of getting improved performance by varying the pattern of fuel delivery does indeed have a scientific basis and companies such as THIS have been running a profitable business...

    Brake bias valve

Thanks all for your replies. I thought about the "grass" solution and kinda rejected it on the basis that weight transfer would be very different. I think that you would effectively end up with a car that is rear biased. Having said that though, it probably would have been a good known starting...

    Brake bias valve

Thanks Ron. I guess that’s what I was trying to say by “front bias” but you put it much more concisely Do you find that small turns have a significant effect or small effect on the bias? I ask because I want to minimize the number of test runs that I have to do. (I expect that the neighbors...

    Brake bias valve

I am assuming that screwing inwards adjusts the brake bias toward the front. Can someone confirm this please? Also, has anyone tried to fine tune the bias of the brakes? If so, what have you found to be the best setting. Also, how much effect on the bias does, say, a full turn have? I...
