    Anyone replace 1-2 in a G96?

I don’t have the trans on hand yet, nor do I have any direct knowledge of its linkage in a Porsche. What I’ll be really curious about is if I can straight remove that drive coupler and leave as is in the car, or whether I’ll need to hack off the end flush. Either way I’ll have two transmissions...

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

Went to charge my AC today to no avail. Held vacuum for 30+ minutes. Went to load 134 in it and the low side just wouldn’t go about about 30. The high side didn’t really move much either. It seems that the compressor definitely isn’t kicking on and it appears that no 134 is even going into the...

    Anyone replace 1-2 in a G96?

Ended up picking up another g96 transaxle for a steal. This however is from a C4. Not a huge deal as the drive end can be removed. More than likely I’ll pull this one apart, inspect the parts and if all good I’ll swap trans. If not I’ll replace parts in both transmissions and have two rebuilt...

    Anyone replace 1-2 in a G96?

Here is another thread on this. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/945482-996-transmission-rebuild-and-pinion-bearing-replacement-diy.html I have a detent frkm GBox on order that I’m going to install as well as fresh fluid and see if it makes any difference before I pull it apart. It seems...

    Anyone replace 1-2 in a G96?

They do. However their prices start at something like $1400 just for labor without parts. I paid that for the whole transmission. The start to the video is below. Looks fairly straightforward. I would probably have to buy a press to push the gears back on. I may give it a shot. If I can do it...

    Anyone replace 1-2 in a G96?

I know there are some vendors here that provide this service. However, I’m a DIY person first. There’s a series of YouTube video detailing pulling the trans apart and replacing 1-2 and the synchros. These transmissions are notorious for 2nd popping out. I would like to try to do this myself, the...

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

50 miles on the car now. Mostly city, nothing much above 70mph. It’s about 79 degrees here in south Florida. Holy hell this thing is hot. I need to do a few things like open up the front ducting more, build a dedicated heat shield/deflector and possibly better fans. My temps do hold around 200...

    Geoff's Build Thread

Can’t speak for the certification as it depends what state you’re in. However I would also do copper nickel. Super cheap, easy to bend and flare. I have a professional flare tool if you change your mind and would like to borrow it. Whats Up with the exhaust? How does that flow? I’ve long...

    SLC noise

Ok, anyone with the RCR cars. What have you done to eliminate or reduce the creaking of the suspension. I greased the front suspension partially, haven’t done the back yet. But wow, perfectly flat roads and still it’s like bouncing on and old steel box spring mattress. has anyone located the...

    Joel’s SL-C Build Thread

It shouldn’t matter, I don’t even have a recovery tank. As long as you fill to the proper level the coolant will expand and contract within the confined volume, assuming it isn’t overfilled. Although I’m sure if you were tracking the car they’d want some sort of spill recovery.

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

Been knocking off items still slowly. Still working on sanding the center console, splitter and side skirts. I’ve been holding off until I can clear them all at the same time. Should have purchased these a long time ago. If anyone is reading this who is thinking about building, buy some quick...

    Brake Bleed Mess

When I first bleed the brakes in my SLC G96 transaxle, I had some very firm clutch movement. Narrowed it down to junk in the flex line. After I replaced that it was perfect. I was using power bleeder too.

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

Wow so today I had the first real drive around the neighborhood. Here are my impressions…. 1. Super raw, everything gets transferred from the road. And it is really really low. I’m going to have to pay attention closely to potholes, sewer lids etc. 2. All the cameras and mirrors are much...

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

Took a page out of cams book for dual rear cameras, one down low that is connected to the head unit. And then a camera up high on the spider that acts as a rear view mirror. Combine this with the mirrors and I should have excellent vision.

    Mark B's Build Thread

That’s great. The video makes it look easy but I know it’s a pain tracking everything down that is attached to the body. One thing I purchase from RCR which is an absolute must is the new 90 degree rear clam hinge. It rotates back 90 without ever touching the ground. So much more room to work.

    Converting RHD SLC to LHD

Been slowly knocking off tasks. Heads are back on, new coil brackets, rerouted the coolant lines to go into my expansion tank and basically act as an aerator, painted part of the supports black with Por15, need to do the side angle supports. Added in a catch can, lots of oil in my intake even...

Does the dash compress your AC vent lines?

Getting to finally putting in my dash and attaching my ac vent lines. It seems like the dash wants to sit on the ac vent hose and not let it sit down all the way. Did anyone have to crest flat spots in the hose? Or is there a specific way they need to be routed under the dash?

    Removing spider after windshield installed?

the gt40 spider is probably significantly easier than the SLC. SLC spider is heavy even without the glass.
