Thanks Nick. I got a new Precision Mathews 12x36 lathe. And I lucked out and found a 2 hp Ex-Cell-O mill in good condition at an auction for crazy cheap.

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

Thanks Randy. I’m not sure how I’ve gone this long without a lathe. I have to say it’s looking like the most versatile tool I have now. I see why machine shops charge so much for one off pieces like this. I have around 12 hours in them, some of that was from the learning curve but not as...

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

Just got done machining the most expensive crank case breather fittings in history. These fittings are the main reason I decided to buy the mill and the lathe. I never liked how the ones I welded up looked (the welded ones are the black fittings in the first pictures. I needed something that...

Thanks for the suggestion Chris, I hadn't thought about splitting the seats like that. I will give it a shot and see how it works. Thinking about it now, I would bet it gives close to another inch of head room. Thanks, Sean

Father and son RCR GT40 Mk ll Build

I would suggest taking the rocker arms off as they are correct about that. Sorry didn’t mention that’s the other thing I did for storage.

If you can find it in small amounts in your area, Cortec VpCL 322 is excellent to preserve the engine oil with. I was lucky and got a quart of it, looks like most places sell it in 5 or 55 gallon QTYS only. And its expensive... You only need ~10% of it to oil, it gives off a vapor that attaches...

    Gear to speed calculator

Hi, Just thought I would share this information with everyone. It was very helpful for me to help choose which transmission I should get. I never shared it before since it wasn't allowed due to being an excel file, but just realized I could ZIP it and share. It is currently set up with gear...

    Sean's RCR GT40 build

I had made up my mind to remove the roll cage, but I decided to try one more thing before I started to cut. I reclined the seats a little more. I moved the bottom cushion about 2” farther forward. This netted almost 3” more headroom. The roll cage is still close to my head, but I think I have...

Im interested in this oiling system for the G50 now. That looks really cool. Do you have more information on it? Is this something you designed or a kit?

I like the way the springs look, although I wondered about the heat too. I also wonder how they do with the ceramic coatings, do they rub them off the pipes?

It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 years since taking delivery of this beautiful car from RCR. Really thought I would be a lot further along by now.

Bumping this old post to see what everyone is using for the hold down springs these days. Looks like the previous links in this thread are all obsolete. Im trying to source these type of springs to hold my pipes in place.
