    Using Expanded Foam

Bill, if youre going to use squirty foam ensure the panels don't get pushed apart !! I'd suggest drilling a few holes, and filling from one, allowing it to expand out of the others. I panelled and filled the back side of a garage door some time ago. I didn't make the expansion holes big...

    I hate trailers......

I saw a while ago on a US web site a truck that started out as a pickup, and had the rear of the chassis changed to car transporter style. I cant find it now though. Maybe someone else knows what I'm on about and has a link to it...

    Frontal Protection in a '40

David, as you know from previous conversation I'm a Ducati man too (998 and ST4S). I joined WVAM as I had some close shaves as a wake up call, and had to do something about it.If you fancy a ride out for a coffee and bacon buttie this Sunday morning, head over to Ripley, Surrey. Take a look at...

    Using An Enclosed Trailer

Winch it in, strap it down. No need to get in the car then :)

    Frontal Protection in a '40

lol Russ ;) Pete, quite possibly true. Experience counts for a lot, but even experienced riders get caught sometimes. A good friend of mine, and a very experienced rider had a fatal accident last year. It only takes one lapse of concentration or error in judgement, and the cost can be your...

    Frontal Protection in a '40

I was talking with some police accident investigators 2 weeks ago (they came to do a presentation to the bike club I belong to). ABS means skid marks are rarely left (on the road anyway :D ) he mentioned that a lot of performance or competition cars fit items to add strength and remove...

    Iran

Woodz, an intersting view point. Not that far from mine to be honest. However, what you've overlooked is the financial aspect of stirring up a frenzy. Being in conflict provided the governemet(s) with a reason to sustain such a large military presence, generates jobs for those in the forces...

    Being towed....and a steering lock!

Oohhhhh. Poor bloke. I have had a similar experience when towing someone whose steering lock went on. Fortunately I saw them tracking off, and then the tow rope broke before they hit anything ! I'm stunned that the guy in the disco didn't see the car veer off the road behind him...

    UK RCR - JayPSC

Very nice Jay, can't wait to see it finished. Whose power locks and alarm are you going to use (pm if you don't want to announce it). I had thought about doing the same thing, just not sure which actuators to use.

    How fast is your GT40?

but was that mph or kph Chris ;)

    How fast is your GT40?

And a further question, what 'softish slicks' does the car run ? I assume they aren't road legal ;) The popular tyre for track days in the Audi/Porsche arena seems to be Yokohama A008s, but not sure they are available in GT40 sizes...

    427 in a Mk1

Quinn, if you get the block for nothing your on to a good start. You say it comes with all the parts. If these are serviceable that is even better. As a guide, my side oiler has cost me around $8000 in parts so far (not including block), and its not finished yet ! My big concern would be...

    Changes are coming.....

Ron, would it be possible to up the PM limit ? If I have a couple of conversations going on it doesn't take too long to reach the limit. I realise this has a major impact on the server storage size, but would love more room if you can manage it. :) Many thanks for all your efforts. God...

    Anyone fly R/C ?

Thats the one ! A bunch of guys at a clients site brought a batch of them. I was pointed at a couple of web sites for tuning these things  Its amazing how excited a bunch of adult men can get over a kids toy :D The technology in them is stunning for the price, and the extent of...

    Anyone fly R/C ?

powered fixed wing and gliders for me, although none have made it out for a few years. I used to race i/c stock cars as a kid, and progressed onto battery stuff for indoor racing. I still hanker after a proper helicopter and one of these days I'll buy one, just need to finish all the other...

    Monocoque Chassis

alistair, are they correct to the original monos, a close copy, or a totally new design. Cheers, John. p.s. I'm not asking to put them down, just I don't know the answer as I've never seen one ;) p.p.s. do the makers have contact details ? (pm them to me if you prefer)

    Monocoque Chassis

Do you mean an original mono, or a modern take on it ? Also, How deep are your pockets, and how long can you wait ?? You can obviously get the CAV and RCR cars in the uk. Both of these are great cars. You can also order an ERA if you can both afford it and prepared to wait. Original monos...

Garage - What features would you select?

My garage is 2 cars wide and 2 deep, though not as wide as yours will be. I'd suggest: A side door so you don't have to open the front one when it is cold outside to get in the garage. Put up a curtain between the front and back sections, so you can limit both heat loss and dust when...

    Holman-Moody Mk II oil cooler

Thanks James, that explains it perfectly. Some of the pics I have also show the variotherm inlet being used, but the base exit rather than the top being used. I guess this means the central web is kept in place ;) Cheers, John.
