Ford Motor Company v. Safir GT40 Spares, Ltd

so it sounds I may have been thinking in the right direction. Trully sad, because I would not choose to go buy a superformance if they won, and bet this would likely stop a lot of people from owning a gt40 replica who could not afford to go that way even if they wanted to. I do agree that...

Ford Motor Company v. Safir GT40 Spares, Ltd

Given that it was a race car that underwent continued development and evolution, and then continuous kit versions since the 80s whilst the owners (ford / safir) made nothing (or very few), I'd say makes it a right nightmare. So is that mkI early, mkI longnose, mkIGulf, mkIIa, mkIIb, mkIII, etc...

    Budget conscious Track only car

Looks nice Fran. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it looks an awful lot like an aeriel atom to me, but at a sensible price ;)

Ford Motor Company v. Safir GT40 Spares, Ltd

Won't the inclusion of the various alternate manufacturers being included in many of the books about GT40s also indicate its continued use ? And how about Tornado and ERA, who have continued to supply for a number of years, how can they suddenly lose the right to manufacture ? I know...

    Dash labeling

These look nice, but should be available from any sign maker. The first link is a simple standard overlay. Price is good though. The last lot are only a shaped and engraved panel/tag/ring that any engraver should be able to supply. It might therefore be worth contacting a local sign maker to...

    Who rides cycles around here?

Ian, so don't fall off !! lol Al, there is a guy who posts KZ parts on ebay every now and then, and seems to have the occasional Z1 part. Those exhausts will be like rocking horse sh!t, but this guy must have some source based on the other stuff he sells, so look out for him. Thats...

    New ideas, new problems 2008

Mike, we're all entitled to our opinion ;), but it does seem the younger generations are far more willing to resort to knives / guns than the older ones. Or maybe this is a reflection of the generations in gun related crime ? Maybe they don't think through the consequences, or simply don't...

    New ideas, new problems 2008

Al, I'm not sure how you qualify gun law changes with the right to defend against governmental suppression. To me that heads down the road of the anarchy you mention in other parts of the world. I know no one wants to give up a lvel of freedom, and respect what your getting at. Mark, I do...

    New ideas, new problems 2008

As luck would have it, there is a programme on satellite tv here talking about extreme marksmen. Some lovely looking rifles being used for 1000 yard shots ;)

    New ideas, new problems 2008

Ron, very informative post. I guess your right that some people assume its a free-for-all in the US. I did know most of what you posted, but not all, and that's probably because I'm a gun guy anyway. I think the tricky bit is the inconsistency between states. The business of locking them...

    New ideas, new problems 2008

Al, you make it sound like gun control is the beginning of the end to freedom. I'm sure not many (outside of the US anyway) would see it that way. That's just an attempt to boulster an argument with things that may or maynot become related, or follow in future. I'm in the uk, and I do own...

    Who rides cycles around here?

I'd never thought of it like that, but now you mention it I have to agree. Motorcycling has featured in pretty much every day of my life - either riding, arranging to ride, organising trips/events, or just plain talking about them. I have a picture of my R1 on one side of my desk, and a...

    Who rides cycles around here?

    Original heater matrix and box

Okay ,happy to be corrected on this. It seems funny that I actually cut that bracket off my box when I got it. Ho hum... That valve on mine was cable controlled though, not thermostatically. Its now replaced by a plastic bodied cable operated valve in the feed pipe. Your right though, it...

    Original heater matrix and box

Really ? I can't say for sure on all your points, but can tell you the heater on my friends Lotus is exactly the same as the GT40 one, and the heater in my Caterham is almost identical too (has an extra braket on it similar to in the above picture for the control valve, but long since cut off)...

    Wiper Motors (Boeing Units)

Nice one Ian. I brought the last pair and can confirm both the motor and gearbox are correct for the mkII. If you are one of the lucky persons to buy these, I can modify the gearbox to give the correct sweep angle, and also supply the cable to go between the two. There are other changes...

    Original heater matrix and box

Andy, that is a standard smiths part, used on a number of cars. It can be found on things such as Reliant Robins, Land Rovers, etc. The lotus 7 used to use this heater too. The water flow was controlled using a seperate valve in one of the flow pipes, not via a thermostat. Hope that helps.

    AP 6-Pots

Paul, does he happen to know the porsche part numbers for the brembos ? Reason I ask is that I want to know if the GT3 calipers are 996 or 997, and if they are 996, are they early or late (mkI or mkII). This affects the pad and disc sizes they can be used with. Cheers, John.

    Original Mk. II oiling system

All ofthe above answers pretty much all the points. One further thing - the very early 427 FE (side oiler) engined cars ran an external dry sump pump, driven off the nose of the crank with a toothed belt. This specific design is covered in the SAE papers for the mkII. The internal pump was...
