    Anyone have a F5000 car?

Cliff, You had better check out the organization you plan to do the track days with,as some do not allow open wheel cars to intermix with big sedans( any altercation between the twp different cars will be a great example of physics). Next, the $25k "roller" Indy chassis will end up being $60 to...

IMO Jim did a Far Better Job

Is it just me or does the whole car look like some cheesy body kit for a Corvette C5??!!!

Wetsanding Mold Lines - Any Advice?

Wear old clothes(it's really messy),and change paper often.Use a guide coat( I use a cheap flat black spray bomb) Let the paper grit do the work-if you have to push harder then the paper is clogged or done. The harder you push, the more likely you are to getting waves in the bodywork. Also sand...

    Racing transaxle gearshift

I have driven 1 Hewland (mk8) and worked on 2(FG and DGB). The only "bias" I felt was the Rev/1st spring loaded detent. If the linkage/levers are set up correctly, shifting is a dream. I have seen people add external springs to bias the linkage to the right side of the gates.

    930 R&P Needed - 4.22

Ron, Maybe you might be better off trading a Porsche guy for another box with the stock 4.22 ratio (his trans plus cash for the rare ratio)? If the stock ratios are right for you at least you would not have to through the trans to swap the R&P, unless the box needs to be freshened or a limited...

    930 slave cylinder help

Bill, Jac Mac has a point in trying to release the clutch at the arm directly. But do make sure it does release at all as when I put my car( Chevy LS6 with 930 'box and KEP adapter) back together this spring, I could not get the arm to move past a certain point(just a little bit and then would...

    Carbon GT mono

Simply beautiful wokmanship!! Absolutely gorgeous !!! It's still difficult, being of "old school" thought, that carbon fiber can be strong enough for suspensions(yet we all know it is)!! Maybe my feelings are rooted in how the stuff comes to me as raw materials- rolls of cloth and some liquid...

    F1 2009

It seems he (Kobayashi) would make three separate moves instead of the allowed one defensive block. The Speed channel played a radio transmission from Button complaining how he can't get past him due to his extreme bobbing and weaving. I just assumed he (Button) was just making lame excuses for...

    F1 2009

Christian Klien with Virgin F1 I know I have missed many races this season due to life getting in the way..........but I thought Virgin was behind Brawn? If so,how does this stack up with JB and Hulkenburg?

    Want an All(most) American Transaxle?

I Also have a concern that I want to throw out there regarding existing transmissions/ratios for our projects. I have found that what ratios work well in a heavy production car doesn't always work well in a light project maybe intended for track/sporting use. Usually modern production boxes have...

Porsche G50. Is a turbo box necessary?

Is it just me or did those gears in the 930 failure pics look very blue? As in too much heat?? I think that was 3rd gear that went.

    F1 2009

So are you saying that maybe the health of Schumi's neck had no bearing on the decision to not race the 2009 car?

    Rifle bolt shifter for 930?

It sounds like you will have a very similar setup to what I have.I have a LS6/inverted 930 equipped tube chassis GTU Fiero. Here are some pics of the rod style shift linkage. ****NOTE*** The 930 with original syncros have a shift travel(measure at the trans) of .870in from the neutral position to...

    Kiwi scratchbuilt

There is no relative movement between the dogs and the gears once the dog is pressed onto the gear. The slider is the only moving(sliding) part to engage the gear. The slider slides on the hub the same way Hewland does. Yes, you can re-grind the dog to make is usable, only up to the certain point...

    Kiwi scratchbuilt

The reason the dogs are splined onto the gears is servicability. If I ding up a dog or two then using the threaded holes in the dog, thread bolts into them and push the dog off the gear and press a new dog on. The Albins gear ratios cost $850 each and dogs and dog rings only $100-$120 each ...

    Porsche transmission mounting

Can the Porsche 930 transmission be hung off the engine/mid plate without any support to the mounting pad? If the engine is mounted at the front and middle on poly bushings, would rear support stays induce any binding or interfere with any natural "harmonics" or motions? I have seen pictures of...

Dual Alternators on a Race Lola

Some of the "race" alternators I have seen are very small and seem to be built for sprint racing and lack in the cooling/longevity dept. Look at some of the race alts. output, they have one amperage rating to start and another much lower rating when hot. I ended up going with a slightly larger...
