    Andrew's GT Forte build.

Thanks Bill, found that stuff on Google, looks very interesting, and they have a dealer in the UK. Looks like it has to be professionally applied, did you do it yourself or get it done by the distributor ? Andrew

got the grinder out with a polishing mop today and gave the panels a clean up. Come up nice ! Question now is, paint it all black or leave it as polished aluminium ? Painted the front clip panels in matt black to see what i thought. Final black would be crinkle finish which i do like ! Happy...

Thanks guys, expect it to look even better once it has been cleaned. Cooling pipes were tricky, i drew them in 3D and then sent the design off to have it made. Guy did a good job, but not cheap, but worth it i think. Wife working today, so a free pass to go and play in the garage again ! Andrew

Progress and a major milestone past today. The front end panels are all on and just need a good scrub up to get them nice and clean. That's 6 months it has taken to get to this point but think that was the hard part of the paneling. Andrew

    Andrew's GT Forte build.

Hi Bill, yes got the pedals in already, went for Wilwood suspended type and the lower tunnel height in that area will make a huge difference. Going to try and make up a tunnel template over xmas to see how things look. Andrew

    Andrew's GT Forte build.

Santa came early. The cooling pipes arrived today, so could not resist fitting them. With the small adjustment in the position of the steering rack (8mm from where it was planned and rotated slightly) i was able to run both pipes under the rack and avoid joints that i would not be able to check...

    Andrew's GT Forte build.

A little more progress today. Working on one of the inner panels at the front, wanted it to be in one piece which was a bit of a challenge. took a bit of time and messing about with a cardboard template. Needs a tidy up, and a couple more trim bits to go in, but quite happy with the way the...

    Andrew's GT Forte build.

Work has been a bit hectic in the run up to Xmas, but bar one small meeting on Monday i am done now till the 5th Jan. Intend to spend a good amount of time on the car and get the panels finished, and get most of the body mounted if i can. Tidied up the garage today to clear my feet in...

Keith, i am thinking about riveting the panel on, but putting an access hatch in it so it with a screw on cover matches the one in front of the dash, and one in front of the steering rack that i will add. Andrew

    Hartwell body catches

Andy, does that mean you will sell / supply them and other parts to non-Tornado builders ? You never answered any of my previous questions on the subject. Andrew

    Duncans GT-Forte Scratch Build

Nice start Duncan. My own build is based around a tiresome and tedious work schedule also. But agreed with the wife, that unless there is something special going on, I get one day at the weekend, (when I am home) to "play" in the garage regardless. That agreeement cost me a new kitchen, but was...

    Andrew's GT Forte build.

Good progress yesterday, despite it being 3 or 4 degrees in the garage, but being dragged of to look at pandas as the zoo today !!! Replaced lower steering UJ as the pressed steel one had a 5mm run out in it, now got a nice forged one in place. Steering is now...

Yes good point, maybe for future access it needs to be screwed on. Or maybe have a removable panel under dash. Andrew

    Andrew's GT Forte build.

Been a long time since my last post.... silver wedding celebrations, second honeymoon, business trips, and a new kitchen that apparently took priority meant little time on the car. but i did get quite a bit of planning done. Made a few changes to the footwell of the car to accommodate my 6' 2"...

    Andrew's GT Forte build.

Been a while since my last post but that does not mean I have not been busy. I have spent a lot of time thinking about how all the bits go together and how they impact on each other. I don't want to go and finish the panels to find out in need to take some back off to modify for the services...

    Andrew's GT Forte build.

Progress, a whole day in the garage with a mate, no distractions ! Turned car back over to have a look at the panels under the front clip before i got too much further with the other panels as i needs to make some extra returns to support the internal panels. Elected to recut a couple of the...
