You would do much better just building a square tube chassis. Noting fancy, a perimeter frame, 2x6 tubes and bolt the VW front axle to it. Darnel

Use a Starter Motor on a pivot and a V-drive Belt with the Pulley on the halfshaft -Google 'Bike Engined Cars' there is a lot of info on the Web. (Bike Engined Lotus 7 clones is popular). Darnel

Ditch the VW powertrain. Use a Yamaha R1 Bike Engine, you will have you 150 hp, be much lighter, and have a 6 speed sequential trans to boot! (this is the powertrain in my racecar). You can buy these for about $500. Darnel
