    Umbrella at BSB

Who were the couple sheltering under a GT40 Enthusiasts Club umbrella at the Donington BSB meeting on Sunday. You were caught on TV for the world to see. Good bit of PR for the Club, thanks. ( BSB = British Superbikes ) Brian.

    Calling all GTD owners

Hi Dave, I don't know what the originals were but they were a bit soft. Most people went to 275 front and 350 rear which is what I have on mine. Ideal for road use. Brian.

    Embarrassing Question

Fit into the hole as Morten says, then find a short piece of flat bar that will fit into the top. Radius the end to the shape of your brake pipe. Put it into the top and hit it with a hammer. The top piece will break away and slide into the bottom half. Brian.

    Alternate door lock release.

I wrote an article for Fortification No. 67 (September 2005) on how I tackled the problem. I cut a slot in the interior door face close to the front just under the cill then fitted a small horizontal pivoted lever which fitted into the slot. On the other end of the lever inside the door I...

    FORD decal

Hi Steve, Firstly by rocker do you mean cills or rocker cover? Is it the word Ford you want or the Ford logo? I can cut you either as a spray mask so that you can spray it in the correct colour then remove the mask. Send me a PM. Brian.

Registration of a new build GT.

Hi Simon, If your car has not been registered before it will have to go through an IVA test. To pass it will have to conform with a lot of regulations. When it passes you will be given a certificate which the DVLA will need before it can be registered. If you have no bills for the main parts of...

    Cheshire SGT build

The aliminium panels on my car were chromate coated before being satin powder coated. That was 20 years and 35000 miles ago. Even the areas ahead of the rear wheels where they get blasted by road grit just need a quick spray of WD40 and a wipe over to make them look like new. I would not think...

Flywheel and crank mismatched bolt holes

There is one hole in the crankshaft offset so that the flywheel will only fit in one place to ensure the balance stays correct. The unused hole at eight o'clock looks like it is off set. maybe it just needs moving round. Brian.

Hi Kev, Hope you are well. Ken's niece has been in touch with the club and we are helping out where we can. We normally had a Christmas card from him but not last year so we suspected something was not right. Brian.

    Starter Motor Type RAC517?

Hi Dave, The standard Ford small block starter motor mounting dimensions are Locating step = 4 1/8" Distance across mounting holes = 5 1/4" The mounting holes are offset by 5/8" from the centre line. All these measurements were measured with a steel rule and cheap vernier but should be fairly...
