    Thoughts on fuel inertia switch?

I have a 10g switch mounted on the chassis by the door hinge behind the dash. From a Jaguar I beleive but can't remember which one. Only ever triggered once when spun off a track during a competition and went across some very rough ground at speed! Not a lot of effort to fit and a good safety...

    UN1 Gearbox Issue

There was a spectacular moment for Dave Parker when we used to hill climb and sprint in the GTD 40 car Club. At Wiscombe he was full on it when the 1/2 inch (or so) pin in the differential and planetary gears moved and locked his gearbox solid in an instant. Unfortunately he was doing about 50...

    Fuel pump and float GTD

I just bought replacement fuel pumps from Rally Design, cheapest place for the same item about £90 each inclusive VAT delivered. I think Europa Parts sells the basic fuel meter assembly?

    Trip to AK Sportscars

I had a good long chat with Neil a week or so ago and would echo the nice chap comments above. Sounds like they are still "unpacking the boxes" after their taking on the SGT40. I was looking into a rear brake upgrade on my GTD (with SGT rear chassis conversion) and Neil said they would be very...

Happy retirment Mick and Carol! Good luck to AK Sportscars with the new addition to their stable, you have a great product in the SGT. Would an AK40 then be a smaller version of the AK47? Shouldn't be an issue really as they have the AK427 already!

    Brake master cylinder sizing.

Aha found some smaller 2 pot Alcon calipers with 44.5mm pistons. If using these on 11 inch discs then I could get a 65/35% set up which if fine tuned a bit with bmc sizing OR balance bar adjustment can easily move % towards 60/40% or 70/30% depending on what I want the pedal to feel like ie...

    Brake master cylinder sizing.

Thanks for the calculator links in this thread, have been using them on my car. One thing it showed me was that i am seriously underbraked at the rear of my car compared to the front. And there I was thinkning my car stopped pretty jolly well! In putting the data into the calculator the one...

    GTD loom repair or replace?

Simply changed all connectors in the loom on my GTD where needed to, mainly the ones outside the cabin. Used modern water proof ones. Didn't remove the loom but you may need to create space to access all loom ends. But if its easy to remove the loom to do this as the car already in a million...

    Saudi Arabian GP

As RB would do the opposite of Merc and gain track position without merc having any certainty that the race would restart as it eventually did. Screwed if they came in, screwed if they stayed out. In the first lap incident, i think RB definately had had a pre race discussion about what would...

    GTD rear disc size

Haven't changed them for a long long time but I thought the rear brakes were from a Granada Scorpio Cosworth? Might be wrong so don't rely just on my input please.

    Saudi Arabian GP

Ask Damon Hill or Jacques Villneuve if Schuey played dirty or not! Both got speared by him with differing outcomes in championship deciding moments. Hamilton clearly did not want to pass before the DRS line. And his reasoning for this was proven when he did later on pass Max later in the race...

    Brake master cylinder sizing.

There is a book in the Competition Car book series that is just on brakes. In that book it suggested aiming for 75lbs of pedal push. I tried that using a set of scales up against a wall like you said to see how I liked it. I liked it so then fed that into the calculations. This was not in a...

    Brake master cylinder sizing.

That seems quite a high % for rear braking Howard. I was under the impression the target % for the rears should around the 25% to 30% range. Another factor is that different bore sizes will effect the pedal pressure. Not too light and not too heavy!

    GTD shocks/springs

Koni desinged a damper spec to suit a GTD and then Eibach did a rising rate spring set up and this is fantatsic for the road. I cannot recall the part numbers off hand sorry. Just seen your message re engine mounts Simon. Will go to garage later and see what I have left.

    GTD wheel width

As a generalisation a 10 inch rim should fit a standard wheel arch. However as Kev suggests inset and offsets can muck that up.

    Problem with "rear gulf arches"

longer suspension arms? but check your geometry isn't ruined as you do it and also for clearance on roll brace strut for trailing links. Personally i wouldn't wind out the heim joints that far but that maybe just me!

    My 1,001st Post

Hi Ben Great to hear your story. I remember visiting you with Brian McCarthy many years ago and you kindly showed us your cars and then took me for a ride in 1030. Fabulous. Do you still have the cortina and escort tucked away? I recall your wife had a room dedicated to her pet rats. Hope...
