Possible Suspension Arm Failure, Racing - Tornado GT40

Dear Cliff if i understand you correctly than you talking about the spring taking a set ( which most springs will do to more or less extend, depending on the quality and springlayout). Practically speaking , this set will not be depending on the preload, it will be depending on the total load...

Possible Suspension Arm Failure, Racing - Tornado GT40

Dimensioning a spring is pretty straight forward when you know your wheelload ( the load which is put onto the wheel by the weight of your car, cornering forces and all other external acting forces). I have posted a excel sheets numerous times to calculate static springrate ( wheelrate). It...

Possible Suspension Arm Failure, Racing - Tornado GT40

Just to point it out again, because it is one of the most common missinformations on suspension. The load when a spring goes coilbind has nothing to do with the amount of preload givven to this spring ( except the case one would wind the collar up for full coil bind in still standing). In any...

    Carbon GT mono

Hi Urs nice inner panel. Be shure to leave enough gap to enable any overpressure under the front clip to escape. Thats the reason why original cars had a not fully sealed compartment there. My car is like the originals under the front clip. Even if this is not sealed perfectly with the clip...

    Chuck and Ryan's RCR Build

Nice Chuck what gasket did you use on your oil pan? Also wouldn´t it make sense to mount the strut for holding rear belly pan on top of that bracket instead of below , in order to get more clearance for the driveshaft? Thanks TOM

    J. Salmon RCR-40 Build

Dear Jay Sounds much nicer now. I like the flame trowing, i have the same on my car. Due to the header wrap the hole system is realy hot when i drive the car hard. If i than go to my "hot" shift point of 7200 RPM it throws out 3 feet long flames with every shift. Quite a picture during...

    Great way to splice wires

SUpport Randy´s comment Properly sized crimping of quality wires and than a heat shrink tube to protect and ad stability is the way to go. Have seen broken soldered connections again and again due to hardening and nonflexibility to cope with vibrations and bending. TOM

    Carbon GT mono

Urs It looks like your construction of the front inner panel is quite symetrical inside the Front clip. Usually the opening of the nostril panel is not centered in the front clip ( one of the design glitches of the original cars, if i remember right without having my car in front of me it is...

    Daytona cobra coupe

Keith although the shape of the FF Daytona Coupe is not original in all dimensions, in my opinion it is much nicer than the original one. It´s proportions are fitting to each other much better, the original shape is more like a cheap boob job. The roof does not quite fit the proportions of the...

    Jim's RCR Build

Dear JIM nice job on the rear clip mountings. Are you going to build the the original style rear frame as well ? If so, find attached a sketch which i did for it. ( also the dimension of the bobbins for my "forks" and spacer dimensions) TOM

    J. Salmon RCR-40 Build

Yeah sounds realy smooth in pull, but all that popping in push? What´s the reason for that and can it be tuned out, or do you want it that way? aanndd, that color still strikes me whenever i see it. great TOM

How good is a Getrag Transaxle?

As said, it would be realy helpful to know the type of Getrag. Porsches G50´s are Getrag gearboxes as well and they can be made to boxes superior to the ZF. TOM

    Unknown Beauty

Hey Mick Think your pictures showing the very same car. Especially if one compares the details of the front picture. They still have the brake rotors mounted the other way around ( Jac Mac your attention to detail is killing me, wow )Also the text description of the pics is in german. Where did...

Searched a bit more and found this pic of the engine bay of a SAFIR MKV This all looks very similar to the design of the racecar above. Anyone pics of the front of a SAFIR MK V chassis TOM

    Unknown Beauty

Probably a correct assumption, but if so, there should be more pics of this chassis available. For me it looks like made either out of stainless or aluminum. The car has defenitely been in germany in 99. Found an earlier post about this 111 copy car. see here...

    LOLA T70 scratch build...

HI Marcus love that build table and they way you approach this. Just make shure you don´t have to tear down the house to get the chassis out of that room. TOM
