    Cleveland Heads

Michael, I'm running a C in my GT. The bellhousing bolt pattern is the same as other small block Fords. I'm using an ERA bellhousing, SBF to -2 ZF with a standard Ford 157 tooth flywheel, clutch and pressure plate. All are McLeod pieces with the flywheel being aluminum. I did my own headers...

Electric water pump otions, looking for opinions

I've ran a Davis Craig electric pump and speed controller since putting the car on the road 13,000 miles ago. No mechanical pump at all. No mechanical thermostat. The voltage suplied to the pump varies based on coolant temperature as read by a thermister installed where the thermostat used to...

    Searching for ZF set-up tools

Mark, I purchased a ZF manual (ebay)and read through it. Then spent 2 weeks making mandrels, pullers, etc. The necessary tools aren't that difficult to make, just takes a lathe, welder, and some time. The puller for the diff carrier bearings took the longest to make. There isn't a lot of...

    NACA Hood Ducts

Bill, They are functional on ERA's. All 3 tie into the HVAC system.

    Wait time for ERA?

Jose, TWM throttle bodies,RedLine independent runner intake, with a Haltech E6K ECU. The Haltech also does the direct fired ignition using a Hall switch looking at magnets embedded in the flywheel. They have released a newer ECU since I got mine several years ago. Dave

    Knock Off hubcaps

Tom, I made them on the lathe. They use an o-ring to hold themselves in the hub bores and seal againt water getting in. Works quite well. Dave

    Original GULF BRMs on Ebay

I was quoted a price of about $800 per wheel for Jongbloed magnesium/aluminum BRM's several years ago. Don't know what the going price is today, but at those prices, 4K + for original wheels doesn't seem that out of line.

    Wait time for ERA?

Best to talk to Peter for current data. As for my car.... Ordered my ERA the end of December, 1999. ERA started construction on the monocoque in Jan. 2002. Took delivery of the kit in Jan. 2003. On the road the end of October, 2003. Fantastic car. Have put 13,000 miles on it since then.

    Insulation board?

As an alternative, visit B-Quiet for sound deading/absorbing materials. A bit less expensive than Dynamat. Nice folks to deal with. Happy with their products. For thermal insualtion, I used an 1/8" thick ceramic material from McMaster Carr. Used single layer for parts of the firewall and...

    Oil pump drive

Peter, May or may not be any help, but I gutted the stock dist. on the Cleveland leaving only the shaft and top bearing, cut down the housing, and made an O ringed cap for what remained. All it does is drive the oil pump...plus the cap is personalized with the wifes name as well as mine. That...

    Exhaust Header Split Lock Bolts

All the locks talked about are neat...but I'm using plain old 12 point ARP stainless bolts in the headers. No loose bolts in 12K miles. Tighten. Heat cycle a few times. Check again. Racing presents very different circumstances, but for me..for street use, the ARP's are doing well.

How much involvement does your partner have in the GT40?

Craig, Much the same. My wife worked with me every hour for 10+ months building the car, painting, sanding, touching every bolt. She was as enthused as me to get it, and as proud as me once it was completed. She too was a little afraid to drive it at first, but once I got her behind the wheel...

    Hillborn Electronic stack injection

I agree with Lynn. Everything I've read about Hilborn has been good. While I can't relate any experiences with Hilborn equipment, I'm running a TWM independant runner setup on my Cleveland engine. Haltech E6K ECU. No problems what-so-ever with street use or runability. It is very well...

    What is driveing/owning a GT40 like?

Hey John, I live about 100 miles or so to the west of you, very near Cumberland Md. As Bill offered, if you want to see the car and go for a ride, you are welcome to come visit. The car doesn't get put away for the winter until snow flies! [email protected] As far as owning it, it...

Wiring/Wire connector kit? Sources for one.....

For inside the car, under dash, etc., I used standard non weatherproof connectors from DigiKey. Pretty big selection. For everything outside the cockpit, Delphi/Packard (GM)weatherpack from Waytek Wire. They also have the metripac versions. There are minimum quanitites, but they are...

    LSD make/type

Here's what the diff looks like from a -2 ZF. A bit different than the one in your photo.

A question to everyday GT40 drivers

I ran mine to work every day this summer that the weather was nice. Like others, I have an end spot in a reserved parking lot. If you can't open the door all the way, you have to crawl out. Sort of like caving and having to wiggle through small openings. In other lots, I only park it when I...

    Davies-Craig water pump

Lynn, I bought the pump as a spare for my car. Very personable seller. No problems with the sale. Cost was much less than other US distributors. Have the pump already. Dave

    Rotors, calipers and wheels

Bill, I went with Baer 4 piston Alcons and 13" rotors, but in a 16" wheel. No way that setup would fit a 15" with a rotor that big. Even with a 16" wheel, there wasn't room to run a two piece rotor that big, so it's a single piece rotor. I had downloaded the templates Baer provides and they...
