If I looked up and saw that, I'd throw myself out of the building.

    Bobs GTD

Absolutely sensational, Bob. And I see your quality control inspector (dog) approves also.

    Big-Foot Randy's new Ponderosa

Well done Randy. Lots of space on that front drive to show off some fast machinery. And looks like there are sliding doors and provision for a deck at the back. Oh, and speaking of the crime rate, let us know when you're on holiday and I'll send some of the boys around to check out your garage.

    Woody's new project

You should have some spare credit points there. Most car projects only involve a new kitchen! The car is looking good. Hope you are not located down south near Christchurch.

Visiting Europe 2012 looking for tips

Darrell, While I'm a car enthusiast, I'm not terribly keen on European driving, on the wrong side of the road and all. Admittedly it's very useful in some circumstances and depends what you want to visit. We've (wife and I) taken the train from Amsterdam down to Paris, with stays along the...

    Favorite Movies

The opening scene in The Italian Job (original version) with the Muira being driven through the alps was magical. But I almost cried after the tunnel crash and explosion.

I don't think anyone has mentioned The Magnificent Seven, or its inspiration, The Seven Samurai.

I love lots of the above. I also really enjoyed the old "A Man and a Woman", which has a GT40 in it, but irrespective of that I enjoy the evocative music, the atmosphere, etc. Memorable.

Good grief! I hope Keith doesn't see this, or we'll never get him to focus on his boat.

    Porsches and Dating

My wife has always been supportive of my genetic weakness for anything on wheels, as I've enjoyed driving high performance, classic, and vintage cars, plus semi-trailers even. After 30 years (I got married at a mature age), we are still firmly together. And while Lin doesn't want to drive my...

"Alberta Alloy" - scratch build project

This is a great project, Francis. In the pics, the depth and flatness of the doors stands out, and the transition to front wheel arch, but you've scheduled these for work already. The rear chassis is too heavy, and would benefit from a simple, light, triangulated structure. If you are re-doing...

    European Car Events

Fantastic trip and pics, Lance. Also good planning, as with a bunch of wives together, you can then sneak off to things you are interested in (eg.classic cars) while the wives talk about your faults, shop, etc.. Lance, is it your car I sat in one night (accompanied by Dave), which was getting...

    Father's Day

It's not Fathers' Day down under. But on this topic, I have a (single) friend who has had many girlfriends around the world; he stays inside and won't answer the door on Fathers' Day.

    Never too late

Welcome Jeff. Gee, our NZ friends are keen; nearly every third person there seems to be building up a project. I love Countachs, and would really enjoy some pics.

Opportunity to buy a GT40 - what kit etc?

Tim. It looks like a KVA base to me. The semi-trailing arms can give similar geometry to an earlier 911 (may not be angled correctly, but CAN be OK) so handling can be quite good if you limit the body roll with appropriate anti-roll bars, and I don't know how good the front geometry is...
