If traveling by Train in Scotland be wise and buy a ticket

Wow! I've travelled quite a bit in Scotland by train, and I'm now glad I always had a ticket. Mind you, i don't tend to argue with inspectors.

    Familiar Dashboard

Troy, apologies for posting your pic without credits. I didn't recognise you from the ad as another GT40 tragic. I hope the rear suspension on your Triumph is better than the swing axles I had on a Triumph Herald decades ago.

    Happy Birthday

That's a typical radical view from you right wing hippies.

    Road legal GT40 interior pics

To match an original Mk III road car you need to have, according to the road tests I have in my library, tangling seat belts, interior trim half un-glued, loose carpets sliding around, poor seats, and a generally shabby level of finish. I think we should improve on this, for such a great car.

    Familiar Dashboard

Hey, here is a modified Triumph Vitesse for sale cheaply here in Oz (very rare model here). But the dashboard looks very familiar, and the steering wheel is even detachable.

Longest distance trip in your 40?

Richard, firstly your luggage box looks GREAT. That is just what a road-going 40 (ie. serious road-going, notjust driving to the race track) needs. Lift-out is ideal, too. You may want to use a layer or two of that insulation all over the box, to avoid cooking the luggage inside. Please let...

    Pearl Harbor

I've been there, and the thought of all those young guys left where they died is very sobering.

    Word of the week

Howard, I think Dictator fits better than King. But please don't take this as criticism, I don't want to disappear.

Thanks Barry. We really appreciate all the pics of what must be described as an extraordinarily well-preserved original car.

    Modification of Quanset barn

These Quonset huts were developed as a quick and cheap erection during WW2, not that this helps you with your question. But the strength is in the shape (ie. cross section shape) so you can't just spread it or raise it, it has to follow the curve I believe.

    Now, HERE's why I don't want a passenger's seat in my 40! NSFW!!

For the knickers to fly off, you would have to be braking to a stop. Assuming the passenger was facing forwards. Of course, kneeling and facing rearwards...Aw heck, I've lost my train of thought now.

    Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars

re: Jimmymac & Alistair's Cars Switches are not trivial. Such a simple thing as a really positive feel and "click" to the switching can make a difference to one's enjoyment of a car.
