    GT40 Mk1

Yep, do it John. Technical pieces like this are beautiful to anyone; you don't have to know what they are (of course, WE know and find them even more beautiful). A coffee table sculpture would be a great conversation piece, and also give people an idea of what you are spending so much time on...

    Horse power ,what horse power

Don't forget that Australian engines are upside down compared to those in the Northern Hemisphere, so different HP again .

    GT40's and Future Generations

OK, sounds fairly positive so far. I'm encouraged that many of you, my friends, are quite young (ie. didn't see 40's in their original racing days) but still have caught the passion.

What's happened to the scourge of English cricket ?

Warnies personal life is crap. But I miss his cricket playing very much. He even gave batting a bit of a go sometimes, as a tail-ender not bad.

    GT40's and Future Generations

Most of us have loved GT40's for years, decades. This was probably because we saw an original one or more in our youth, and realised what a unique and exciting vehicle they are. Today's generation, such as my adult son, also appreciates them, but to a lesser extent, and hasn't been exposed to...

    Tornado in Vermont

Bill, I can't imagine the time warp in working on a Steamer, then walking over to work on a 40. Wow! Although in traffic, some 40's become steamers, of course. I can't think of a good way of sensing how much water is left in the Steamer boiler, as a safety measure. Don't know much about them...

Doc, if you don't mind summariseing, what did the floor preparation require?

So much for richer, for poorer.

I would be interested in a statistical analysis of performance car ownership in relation to divorce rates, compared to the population norm for similar income bracket.

Good to hear (and see pics) from you John. Looks a bit rough, but as long as you're rushing things :). This will be a work of art, to install in the lounge room.

    Plating suspension parts....

As well as hiding cracks, chroming tends to initiate them. The plating process causes hydrogen embrittlement of the steel surface and this, plus the hardness of the chromium skin (compared to the ductility of steel), may initiate surface cracking in a stressed or flexing member. Of course, the...

Preference: Replica GT40 or Ford GT?

One of the engineering factors for springs is not the weight of the body, as in larger weight making them work harder. The body is intended to move smoothly while the wheels and suspension move up and down. Hence one of the important factors is the ratio of unsprung weight (wheels, brakes...

RCR Australia New Factory Address (with Photos)

Craig, Having visited your factory when the new premises opened, having sat in your cars at Wakefield Parkway, and having received friendly and helpful advice from you, I wish you all the very best, whatever caused this separation. May your business prosper.

Keith Baker's Southern gt on the build

Keith, no offence meant but I don't find it logical to replicate the originals to the point of totally fake stick-on strips on the sills, then upgrade to a modern dashboard detail with carbon-fibre panel and digital gauges. Why not just stick quiet, comfortable (insulating) and attractive...

    Hi from Australia

Sandy, I wouldn't necessarily get fixated on the LPG track. There are many powerful built-up cars around (GT40's especially) that have been registered OK here using petrol. Late model engines, with engine management systems, as mentioned by Clive. Of course, it's your build.
