Het Mesa, for sure. Formula Classic is a series with sub categories for different age brackets. Typically, 1986 is as new as they like, or marginally later as long as it is an alloy chassis car. As mine is carbon chassis (but steel wishbones) I can run it by invitation. There are 5 or 6 of us...

The car has been accepted to run by invitation in Formula Classic, so am starting to prepare it for that. Wrapped the headers with the Titanium FG wrap.

Just for the sake of the argument, the Xtrac 626 LMP transverse stack transmission starts at £33k plus options, plus support. Around £52k fully optioned, plus engineering and track support. That's deep pockets...

That's a pretty tough spec, and to try and find something second hand? I'd suggest contacting Elite Racing Transmissions in the UK for a new build, or if you have deeper pockets, XTrac or Sadev...

Fran might recognise the LS Bell housing attached to the front of the Albins transmission in a couple of the pictures (Manufactured in Australia)... Maybe not, but it was the one I fitted to my Elite 6spd, which ended up going to RCR.

Will look into the RF gear. On the headers for the RF12, MIG or TIG Dave?

Interesting to read this. I don't like the fibreglass based wraps as they need to be wet-out before application. I'm wondering if the problems begin in the tubes themselves, or the welds? I might take my chances with the titanium coated wrap. If they fall apart, it'll just give me a proper...

While the exhaust blankets look like they'd be the most effective, I'm just not sure I have the room under the bodywork for them. I'm thinking the Ti stuff will probably work best for me, and probably with some adhesive sheet on the underside of the side pod panels. What is in favour with GT40...
