    Ujoint play on Corvette suspension

Larry, The last set of rear brake pads that I bought were made by Albany Brake shoe company, P/N MKD295 - sku 090037 - they are semi metallic. Do me a favor, grab both half shafts near the Corvette uprights and try to move them in all directions to see if there is any play in the ujoint...

    Ujoint play on Corvette suspension

Randy, I've already replaced the hub - there are two tabs on the spindle where the ujoint seats. These are supposed to seat the ujoint in its proper position when the ujoint is bolted in .However, there is about a couple mm space left over when the ujoint is installed which allows the ujoint...

    Ujoint play on Corvette suspension

I've been trying to solve a vibration problem on my KVA GT40 - it has C4 Corvette rear hubs. The ujoint on the left side shows a small amount of play on the drive axle and the spindle. Is this normal or should there be no play. The left side shows no play. The inner shafts are connected to the...

    KVA Gt-40

Re: Kav Gt-40 Larry, I have a KVA and except a few minor differences, yours looks just like mine. The front suspension upper control arm has a minor design change. A company named Sabre, I believe bought KVA and was later purchased by Integrity Works (I may have the line of succession in...

    Roaring Forties #80 Reborn!!!!

Peter, Sorry to hear about the problems you're having with your new project - I guess there are days when you're sorry you took on this new project. Your old GT40 was probably less of a headache! (reminds me of the old adage - if it ain't broke, don't fix it) I'm been having plug fouling...

Anyone built a Lonestar Gt40 with Focus donor?

I visited the Lonestar plant in Texas several years ago to look at their car. I didn't like the one piece fiberglass body and the puny engine. I suggested to them that I'd be interested if they offered a small block V8 option and a three piece body option. They never responded, so I went on...

New 'Roush' for my MK IV

Jac, What are you going to do with those headers - its doubtful that they will fit in your Mk IV - you're going to need some snakes! John :pepper:

MDA Mk1 with Gulf Arches - Martin P

That area near the vent would be a good location for a rear view camera - seeing out the rear view mirror is almost impossible. I located my camera on the rear hinged section, but locating it on the spider would be even more desirable. John :pepper:

MDA Mk1 with Gulf Arches - Martin P

Don't forget to run lines for the A/C - it is hot as hell riding in the car with the cooling tubes running down the center panel! I didn't have A/C tubes in mine and caught hell pulling the lines through the side panels near the gas tanks! John :pepper:

A drive with my 40 on Sunday

Tony, Some of those car passes seemed a little dangerous - also you seem to have a penchant for driving on the wrong side of the road! Otherwise, it looked good! John :pepper:

    MkIV

Fran, Good to know that the 930 is your favorite - the only thing I don't like about it is the shift mechanism hanging out the rear of the car. Its unsightly and vunerable. Do you know of a more elegant shift mechanism? John :pepper:

Spark plugs: seven tan and one nasty black

Chuck, I agree with the rest of the guys - certainly seems like a valve stem seal! They are generally rubber and could crack or be damaged during installation! There may be some conditioners on the market that treat the seal if it's not seating properly around the valve stem (of course this...

Spark plugs: seven tan and one nasty black

Chuck, I would run a compression check - I used to fool around with big block Fords. the compression check gauge screws into the spark plug hole so you don't have to remove any valve cover gaskets. You simply screw in the gauge, disconnect your coil so the engine won't start, and let the...

    Inside Rear View Mirror

Jim, I've found that a inside rear mounted camera works better than a mirror - even with the best mirror the view through the rear window in most GT40's is badly obstructed. If you're interested, I'll send along some pictures of my solution although there is an existing thread that...
