I'm trying to upload a picture in the "Start a conversation" window. When I press the "Insert image" icon I get the Link window (see picture below) instead. I just checked and the link in this window is working correctly. Would you please have a look and see if you can fix the problem. Thanks.

I have at least 25K miles on my 40 with a 331 SBF. I've never seen any problems. Having your headers ceramic coated inside and out will also help.

If I remember correctly when Dean Jeffries owned the car it was fitted with a Ford Indy engine. Not that someone couldn't have changed it the question is why would you. Also weren't some roadsters converted to coupes?

Thanks Dave I'm hoping I never have to redo the bearings again but I'm much better prepared if that day comes. I think I'd crumple up some aluminum foil and stuff in the space between bearings to get an starting point.

Do you have the length of your spacers? That would at least give us a starting point. I may also start with some PVC pipe.

Markus thanks for the info for setting the bearing preload. Now that I have lathe and a surface grinder I can make my own spacers. However my question is how would you measure the space between the inner bearing races? I guess you could make something that you know would be to long, put it...

My GT 40

The place that has 1051 restored and painted the car. I ask them for the paint code and they said they would have to do spray out to find the right paint. They would gladly do it for a few hundred dollars. It was nice of them to offer but seemed a bit strange seeing as how they had painted the car.

My car is painted Porsche midnight blue which is black most of the time. When it's blue it's beautiful, black not so much IMHO. Not trying to copy 1051 as I'm not adding the orange strip I've just always liked the blue on that car.

Can someone please share the color code for the blue paint. Is it a match to 1051 or a stock SPF color? Thanks.

When I bought my 40 back in 2007 I remember hearing the price was going up from $65K to $75K. It was then I figured it was now or never. To hear they have gone up this much is mind boggling. Even if the price had gone down I will never regret buying my car.
