    dash and instrument photos

Amazing that after all these years, Dymo label makers still exist and you can still get the label tape for them. Incredible.

Need advice, and possibly an engine block for 302 Ford

I think the problem is actually that all the fuel pumps we've tried don't lift fuel very well. They push fuel rather than pull. We are going to try a Facet pump which will lift fuel several feet, see if that cures the problem. I think the design of the SW pump is such that once it's a bit worn...

    dash and instrument photos

Does anyone have GOOD clear photos of the dashboard of an original Mark I GT40? We are going to (finally) label all the various switches using a machine that makes labels similar to Dymos... but I can't find a photo of an original dash that shows the, even looking through all the GT40 books I...

Need advice, and possibly an engine block for 302 Ford

Oh- thanks for the advice on the valve covers washers. They have cured 95% of the oil seepage problem. I can live with it now. And the heat shield just fits with the breather caps. I swear when this car is finally all back together and everything works, I am going to put it into a huge nitrogen...

Need advice, and possibly an engine block for 302 Ford

An update on this: we rebuilt the engine using the new (old ) block, fit it all together, after some judicious tuning of the Webers, runs nicely. A couple of short trips down the drive, minus the rear clamshell, have gone well. Runs out nicely, but not really tested to speed yet. Sadly, my...

    Stewart-Warner 240A fuel pump question

Air leak on the suction side.... that makes sense, because an air leak on the pressure side would leak fuel... I'll see if I can find that..

    Stewart-Warner 240A fuel pump question

We are having trouble with the pumps in 1149, which lose prime as soon as you shut them off, and then won't reprime. The pumps run in parallel, drawing through a Spitfire selector valve from the two tanks. The pump outputs are then merged to go into a single fuel line, to the filter/regulator...

15" racing tires - which are the best for the track?

Which Hoosiers are you speaking about?

15" racing tires - which are the best for the track?

Thank you! ACtually I could care less about DOT.. but I wonder what they would be like on a car driven on the street.

Are the Dunlops radials, and are they usable for street driving?

    Original Ignition amp

IIRC, the diagrams didn't have values on them, did they... so you would have to reverse engineer from an old one if you could read the resistor and cap values off them.... the other question is this: as an early solid-state ignition amplifier, it may not have been all that good to begin with...

    Original Ignition amp

The first schematic shows points. The second one, which I imagine applies to the amplifiers you have, does not have points, right.

i'll look again. I was looking at the schematic- looks like it shows points.

Need advice, and possibly an engine block for 302 Ford

Eric, we used a set of steel valve covers I found on eBay for about thirty bucks. One has two breather pipes; the other has none. Sal moved one pipe to the one that didn't have one, and then welded it all up nicely. A pair of appropriate style breather caps from Dennis Carpenter cost more than...

    Original Ignition amp

There were some Mercedes/Bosch ignition systems in the early 70s that used low-voltage points current, and then an amplifier to raise the voltage before it was fed to the ignition coil... this system might be similar. The points lasted longer because they were only carrying two or three volts...
