The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

Oh, I know it,s not hard to do, but I am always so busy. In racing you just cannot stick it on the glass. It has to be mounted in a very sound way and be passed by the scrutineers. I,ll purchase one just to keep you all happy, but don,t be surprised if I forget to switch it on or off !!!!!

The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

Jimmy, I just do not have time to do "Movies" and have to rely on others having me in the frame, so to speak. I did take my first video on my mobile telephone just yesterday morning, trying to better capture the mess of oil all over the car, and before I started the clean up. I...

The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

As a footnote to the above story, 3 days later, I,m up at Snetterton for FORC track event, and we unload the 917 fresh with "patina"of oil and looking like it had just done 24 hours. It was warm and dry, and after a couple of warm up laps and cleaning of the tyres, she just ran faultlessly...

The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

Many thanks to Alex for resizing the above pictures and posting them here for me. I love Spa, and I had really hoped and prayed that it would be a relatively kind weather meeting. WRONG !! We all go out for the early morning first qualifying session on a very wet, greasy and cold (4...

Graham That's great. I,ve just telephoned my colleague and left a message for him to call me as soon as he gets home. Could you send your telephone number or email address by a PM on this site to me please. Thank you so much.

The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

Right, here goes. These 3 pictures were sent to me by other photographers who were there for the early Friday morning first qualifying session. The other pictures taken by me just will not download onto this site, so I am sending them to Alex, who in turn will then put them onto this post...

The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

Alex, I,ve downloaded them onto the computer, but when I try to put them on this site it just keeps saying " upload failed". I have lots to tell but I need to provide pictures to back up the story.

    Urgent. Mk 1 nose needed.

URGENT. Not for me, but urgently required for a colleague. A GTD or similar Mk1 front nose in almost any colour or state of repair, but usable. Will travel anywhere in UK for right one. Can anyone help please.

The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

Guss, Dreadful weather from Tuesday onwards .... should have been power boat racing instead!! Lots to tell, but the photographs taken on "iphones" just will not download onto this site. All in one piece and no technical issues, but lots more to tell and of interest to you GT40...

The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

There are plenty of Lola T70s, and every other type of sports and GT cars you could wish to see, at this fantastic 3 day meeting. With 600 cars competing, the tyre suppliers are going to be working flat out !!!! I,m off tonight to get the ferry, hoping that the weather Gods will look...

The Spa "Six Hour" race meeting

Any one else going to Spa and this glorious meeting and circuit next week ? I,m racing in the One hour race with the 917K and hoping for some better fortune this time round. Some recent issues have been sorted out, and I,m praying for dry weather, at a circuit which is famous for giving four...

    GTD Engine/gearbox Lowering

Whoops !!!!! That will teach me not to read the posts properly. I see you have already done that. Sorry.

    GTD Engine/gearbox Lowering

If you want to do it easily with a minimum of fuss I,ve got a pair of Roy Smarts bolt-on engine lowering mounts for free. Uses existing bolt holes, and just lower the gearbox tail to suit. A few hours work, and you don,t have to take the engine out. Just collect...

    Mike, you,re a genius. Thankyou.

    The season gets started.

Jimmy P. I always wear two facial protection pieces of fire protection, due to the cars vunerability. One is a full balaclava, the other is a "tube" type to give extra neck and lower face coverage. It is pure coincidence that it looks McQueenish, but was a common sight in older times anyway...

    The season gets started.

Qualifying and the race were somewhat frought and I managed to finish intact, but it was not an experience I wish to repeat in a 917 ever again. It was wet, with a capital W for the race itself, which had to be red flagged prematurely as cars were falling off the track and the heavens had...

Michel, just a picture for you from a previous race at Brands Hatch, going into the "Druids" hairpin.

    The season gets started.

Michel, it is definitely NOT my first race. That was in 1969 and I,ve lost count of how many I,ve done since then. It is not even the 917 first race. That was at Spa in September 2005. This is, however, the first race for her on the "GP" circuit at Brands. It is not used so much as...

    The season gets started.

It is all go now as 2017 season gets going. Had 917 out at Brands Hatch(Indy circuit) last week to run in rebuilt engine, following its "nasty" at Silverstone last year, and to test her out in readiness for the GP circuit race in a couple of weeks. Although everything ran up in workshop...
