These cars are so much lighter than the OEM vehicles that the gearboxes were designed for, can push the limits of the torque ratings. Most of us aren't beating on the gearboxes from a standing start anyways.

You've inspired me to improve the appearance of my welds. I recently fabbed up motor mounts and forgot about the A/C compressor. Luckily there was only about 1/8" of impingement, easily corrected.

My shop is about 40x60. If I was doing it again, I would do spray foam insulation instead of batting. The extra efficiency will offset the higher initial cost fairly quickly. All of my concrete sections have a slight grade for allowing water to drain, I'd do flat area(s) if you plan for a lift...

Looks like most electric cars are running high-voltage a/c compressor pumps... Are there any reasonably priced 12v electric a/c compressors available? Is that even an option? Any oem options in the junkyards? Would simplify a mid-engined arrangement... Thanks! Dave
