    A new era?

Yes, he has a radio in the car to talk to the pit crew or other driver. It's limited range, but works pretty well. For example, we were are Turn 19 at CotA and it would fade out when the car was at Turn 11. FWIW, Kirby

    A new era?

I hope you watched the in car video... I goofed and put the wrong link the first time. I love it when he gets out of the car to hand over to Gray and yells... there's a lot of oversteer! Yeah.... really? FWIW, Kirby

    A new era?

The red #44 Chevron B16 is my son in law's car and it is the 'real deal'. In fact, it ran in LeMans in 1970 and you can see it in the Steve McQueen movie, 'LeMans'. He won Group A and his class. The nearest car was a T70 two laps back. A good night video of his co-driver driving is here...

Jac, According to the invoice, they are Dyer 6.285" LSBCQ rods. There's also '4735A "D" (BE .905 wide) written below that. So there ya' are... rod length. Sorry it took so long to get back with the info. Regards, Kirby

An engine build... Kinda' GT40 related

4V was Ford's way of saying they were '4 bbl heads' (as opposed to 2V, for example). It's the description for the larger port and valve combination. There were 4V quench style and 4V open style head chambered heads. The quench heads 'or closed chamber are better for performance. They have a...

An engine build... Kinda' GT40 related

Rod length... Darn, I don't remember. I'll have to look. Block height was supposed to be 9.2", but it was closer to 9.15". 354", actually. 4.133" bore. I/we don't have a clue what those three holes are for... We asked ourselves the same thing when we were putting it together. I'm not using...

An engine build... Kinda' GT40 related

Ahhhh.... Yes, everyone, including my friend Tom, thought I was a nut case/glutton for punishment/idiot for running Webers. In fact, the machine shop guy said if they were such good stuff, everyone would be running them! Well, they work just fine, thank you very much! it took me some time...

An engine build... Kinda' GT40 related

Was talking to Mike Trusty and he reckoned some of y'all might be interested in an engine build that a friend and I did for the Pantera race car. I intend to rebuild my GT40 427 Windsor similar to this (especially the valve train) but with less compression for the street. I've never been really...

    Don's Mk IV Build

Very nice. That's the same clutch slave setup I have on my car. Nary a problem with it now since 2007. I really should drive down the road a little ways and see your car. Don't know that I have your address though, Don. Regards, Kirby

    Bellhousing engine mount lugs

Solid mounted. I had a problem with the third bolt not being in the motor mount some time ago and the part that goes to the chassis was cracked. I think the name of the thread was something like 'Why my motor went clunk, clunk, clunk'... At the same time, I converted the rubber motor mounts...

    Bellhousing engine mount lugs

Seeing the damage done in the other thread, I talked to Mike Trusty and he said he'd fixed his long ago. So, on Saturday, I made up some pieces myself and mounted them. The bolts on the 'back side' were too long and there was not enough room to thread the 1/2" 20 bolts into the thread insert...

    Engines HP

Whoa.... poor choice of words. Sorry. My apologies. Road racing... I meant legal racing as in going to a track and either joining a 'track event' where it's a training type thing or vintage racing. What I think you interpreted it as is 'street racing'. Not condoned here, personally...

    Engines HP

VERY late to the game here, but hell... I'll add my opinion. My SPF MkII has a 427 Windsor with EFI and it dyno'd at 544 HP. I am not happy with it (long story), but it goes. I think it could stand more HP. I'd like some more HP. When you see your speedometer hit just under 180 on the...

    Proper ZF gear lube

This is interesting... A friend who has two Panteras, one he races, and I both put 4 quarts in our ZF's. Never had any of them puke. I honestly don't remember what I put in my GT40... Time to change, methinks. FWIW, Kirby

Anyone using a Mallory Fuel Pump

When I got my Pantera race car, it had one of these on it. It has worked very well with a Holley 4bbl and it is quiet. I am now using it with a set of Webers. Yet to see how that goes, but I did change the fuel pressure regulator so the Webers wouldn't be overwhelmed. The unit is so quiet...
