    Radiator Thermoswitch

I don't have a computer in my GT and as long as the coolant leaving the radiator, going into the engine, is cool that is fine with me. A lot of this seems to be over thought for a simple beast like the GT40. I do have an electric water pump but it is not computer controlled either.

    Radiator Thermoswitch

The advantage to having the fans activate on the output side of the radiator is that they will not be on when the car is moving (unless AC is activated). The temp leaving the engine will always be hot if you have a thermostat in it so the fans can run when they are not needed.. My CAV had the...

would it work in the engine compartment

Hi Richard, CAV puts the condensor (with an electric fan attached) on the left side of the engine compartment, works fine there. Try to seal it off from the headers. Dave

    24 Hours

Hi Richard, I sold the Indy car to a race car collector, I could not get a suitable gearbox for it. I had money on one for 2 years but the guy would not produce it. I wanted to drive another race car diring my lifetime so I purchased this Formula Renault so that I could get some seat time. I...

    Real GT40 Bellhousing

I do not know anything about different versions of the original GT40/ZF bellhousings The only reproduction that I am aware of is the Safir GT version which is for a 6 bolt block and a -2 ZF, I have that on my SPF and it is different from the original mostly because of the way a -0 and a-2 mount...

    Real GT40 Bellhousing

Hi Jim, that is exactly what this is, I have a 6 bolt reproduction of this bell on my GT and it uses a smaller diameter flywheel and a double disc clutch, made by Safir GT. The one I have for sale appears to be an original, if anybody has a method to authenticate that I am happy to submit it...

    Real GT40 Bellhousing

This is a Genuine GT40 Bellhousing, in excellent condition (does not appear to have ever been installed on a car) for a 5 bolt 289 and a ZF-0. This was sold to me as a Indy car bell for ZF (at about twice what I am listing it here for) but I would have had to cut it up to make it work. $750.00...

    Little Venting - SPF Construction

Wow! I have been busy doing other things and away from the forum for a while. I have to add my 2 cents worth, My car had a few small things wrong but I was able to drive it from San Diego to Reno and back after only putting 600 local miles on it. This forum was very helpful in alerting me to...

28 oz Mcleod flywheel and clutch

Steel billet Mcleod 157 tooth flywheel and match balanced 10 1/2" clutch w/new Ford Disc. I ran this on the 347 in my CAV for about 8000 miles. When I built the SPF I used the Safir bell housing and 7 1/2 dual disc set up. This is all in excellent condition. $600.00. I also have a used 157...

FAILED!!! at the BAR (Califonia Smog test)

I did my SPF in 2009, I did add a tube from the valve cover (to "seal" the PVC system) to the top of one of my Weber Carbs. The guy in San Diego was great, you must have really come up against someone who not solution oriented. I would try Lance's guy. Dave

Need some history on SPF MK II P 2176

What is the point of all the horse power if you cannot get it to the ground? And to me a major attraction of the GT40 is it's rugged and brutish simplicity. It is essentially a 200 MPH (for many reasons) car and any HP above what is needed to get it there is superflorous. IMHO

    Fitting fans to radiator

I never use the push thru pins, always make a shroud. It is very easy to fold the edges so that it will attach to the frame of the radiator and will be far more efficient then just sticking the fans to the core. Very important to seal around the edge of the radiator to the car, that way all of...
