    G50 Competition Transaxle Support

I would like to slightly modify my position after talking to an engineer friend of mine to say that 2 sets of mounts should be sufficient for an engine/transaxle setup. When I think about all the longitudinal engine/trans setups I've ever seen have one pair of mounts for the engine and one pair...

Help - GT40 Space Frame Drawings and Plans

Back up what Russ says. Scratch building is not for everyone. I started with a goal of 5 years and $25K. Ended up with 7-1/2 years and $50K. The only thing good about it taking this long is that the cost was spread out over time, making it affordable to go all out in some areas. The one...

    Call For How To Articles

Here's an earlier thread I wrote about hose clamps. It shouldn't be too hard to cut and paste into a new How To. http://www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-tech-exterior-interior-ac-trim/16260-hose-clamps.html

    Deleting Photos

Is there any way for a user to delete photos from their gallery? I have several that I was able to host on photobucket so I don't need to waste Ron's bandwidth, but I can't find any way to delete them?

Securing / Bolting Seats in a Tornado

I wasn't talking about cost/risk, although it could be connected. I was talking about expecting similar safety from a small low-production low-cost business as you do from the major manufactures. Yes it is the case that a safe as possible vehicle, with similar performance/looks, also costs 2...

blue coolant hoses - napa? HELP!

the only clampless hoses use an AN type fitting that has a one time press on hose. (you have to cut it off) I don't think this would work for your application. It has a barbed fitting that goes into the hose then the other end has a flared fitting that screws onto another flared fitting.

Securing / Bolting Seats in a Tornado

IMHO, this is where the basis of your argument falls apart. Because kit car manufactures are quite different from the major manufactures. I'm always going to back the kit manufacture in this sort of instance, because they dedicate their lives to making the dream achievable to the working bloke...

    G50 Competition Transaxle Support

I defer to Ronnie Spain who puts the MK1 at 2000. I think you're looking at a MK1 wet weight of 2438 and that's with 40 gallons of fuel @ 8lbs per. or 320 lbs. So that puts it a 2120 with no fuel, so 2000 might be no oils or coolant. My car weighs 2170lbs. with 3 gallons of fuel and full oils...

Securing / Bolting Seats in a Tornado

Mountain out of a molehill here... What is so scary about aluminum? "I want steel, it's "stronger"", right? It's not the material it's the design application. Think about it. Almost the entire load bearing structure of a 747 jet is.... get ready.... aluminum. My GT40 has a .083" 7075-T7...

Randy, Please don't take this personally but I'd like to critique your bracket if you don't mind. I've been lurking on this thread but can't bite my tongue any longer. I totally agree with your general idea of more than one mount point, just want to point out some other things to improve what...

Good bye Locost 7 Hello GT40!!

Your chassis will have less warp if you anchor your jig to the floor. What happens with a light jig like you have is it has no torsional rigidity unless you anchor it. You can get the chassis all perfectly straight while it's tacked but with the heat of the full final welds it will twist. If...

Help - GT40 Space Frame Drawings and Plans

Re: Any help please I disagree, properly done either the cable or rod type can be done to a high level of precision the only difference being the cable type is more adaptable to different positions and obstacles.
