    Car security

Your basic modern alarm is triggered by the opening pin switches, like dome light switches etc. It also has a shock sensor. Proximity sensors are problematic, they can go off just from a car being parked in the next stall. My favorite is Clifford with one add-on, a battery back-up siren. So...

Half shafts with U-Joints vs. CV Joints

Ron, AFAIK, the factory remans are okay, the aftermarket remans are pretty questionable. NAPA is the only aftermarket one I've seen that's halfway decent but still not up to the factory caliber. As regards to Ujoints CV's I agree that U-joints are fine for rear axle applications as long as...

Mark II P1046 vs. Gulf P1015.... which is more representative?

Good question, from a technical or opinion viewpoint there are arguments that could go either way MK-1 MK-2, or MK-4. From a generic view it would have to be the MK-1. You could ask this question another way and say which best represents the GT40 spirit. Most of us would say MK1. It's that...

Half shafts with U-Joints vs. CV Joints

One of the main reasons for development of CV's was front wheel drive cars which need more degrees of articulation for turning radius. Another thing to consider when setting up CV's you don't want them running dead straight at ride height, you want at least some angle in one plane. This is so...

Garage - What features would you select?

The floor anchors is a good tip. Chassis torsion tests anyone? Dog house outside for the compressor makes is much quieter another good one. The newer small dia fluorescents are good just make sure the fixture has a cold starter, the cheapy "shop lights" don't and the bulbs don't last when...

Half shafts with U-Joints vs. CV Joints

CV is the superior piece. As part of the design they have some telescoping travel and thus the assembly is lighter because it does not have a separate telescope function. If properly maintained they last just as long as a U-joint. The only problem they have on hi-perf vehicles is the...

    Getting started on a 917K

Interesting. It looks like the transaxle is right side up, but isn't this trans normally pointed forwards? did they reverse the rotation of the engine? Or is this something other than a G50 trans?

    Making front upright safer

Don't be afraid of red lock-tite either, it's quite a bit stronger than the blue. I don't even use the blue anymore and have never had a problem getting the red loosened when necessary.

    Making front upright safer

AN costs just a little bit more and it is the BEST Bolts from Aircraft Spruce both east and west locations (standard sizes only though, no metric)

    Programmable EFI Questions?

Okay, here's some screen-shots so everyone can see what's being discussed. Again this is the ACCEL Gen7 CalMap software. You can download the actual software for free from Mr.Gasket and play with it all you want. (It's the hardware they charge for) The first screen-shot is the (4...

    Programmable EFI Questions?

Agreed, vac regulated fuel pressure is better. The TWM setup came with a FP regulator that doesn't have vacuum control. After talking with Kinslers, upgraded to a vac controlled regulator($150). Not sure what the .ECM (ITB) file that ACCEL sent me was supposed to run with. So that's another...

    Best Kit

can be very subjective, tell us specifically what you're looking for. Is money no object? Or are you looking for the best bang for the buck? How long do you want to wait for delivery? How much of the work do you want to do yourself? Or do you want turnkey? The space frame is sometimes...

    Programmable EFI Questions?

Okay.... re-reading the Ben Strader book. There's a lot of info there, but much of it is between the lines. There's 2 basic types of chassis dynos the INERTIA type that calcs with a heavy roller and how long it takes to accelerate and the LOAD CELL which has an adjustable and measured load. The...

What causes heavy steering at racing speeds

Glad to see you achieved an improvement. It looks like you also maintained your turn radius, the upright doesn't look like it's too far inside the rim lip to cause clearance issues. It's probably irrelevant at this point but one other thing I'm noticing now that you posted pics of your...

    Programmable EFI Questions?

""It is related to the load sites at 2500rpm,it may have 10 load sites at that rpm."" So you hold it on each one, rpm steady, load steady for that point on the graph and adjust mixture for optimum HP? So the Gen7 has 16x16 points so that's 256 points, and you adjust each one individually...
