MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Chuck, You are totally correct in your observation. The air inlets for the idle circuits are separate from the air horns. I feel the same way about the filter situation. Those are pretty good looking ones. My only suggestion would be to get the largest that would fit. There is one other...

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Chuck, I set the acc. pumps to optimal settings, then trimmed off the threaded rod ends flush with lever arm. Then used a radius tipped carbide to grind a round "dimple" into the valve cover as a recess for the arm to move into. Again, I don't think the spacers are necessarily evil, just need...

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Good suggestion Gregg. I am suspicious of vacuum leaks under the carbs. This could cause the inconsistent idle mixture settings. If you are unscrewing the #8 2.5 turns, that means you are adding fuel, and quite a bit more than others. 2.5 turns in my opinion would indicate an idle jet too...

    Chuck and Ryan's RCR Build

Excellent Chuck. How did you do the cross bar? Would like to know more about that. It looks great. I don't remember reading anything about it......did I miss this post? Yes, you are required to post about "everything"! It is in the fine print of the forum "build log" rules and...

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Chuck, Agree with JacMac, you are dealing with a low rpm circuit issue. Don't worry about the main jet yet. Although I'll bet you a frosty cold beer that when you get on the dyno you will be lean above 2K rpms. But a discussion for later. Wait..... thinking aloud here..... I can't...

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Chuck, I'd say it's definitely something to do with air, fuel or spark. For sure.... Sorry...couldn't resist. Jac has a good point. Sorry, not smart enough to decipher the PDFs....the air / fuel ratios are zeros. Chuck, if you want to eliminate the box as a possibility, feel free to buy a...

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Yep. Agree with every one of your comments. Here's my train of thougth: 1) plugs are wet, light indicates fire may be getting put out. 2) jet settings suspect. "seems..seems" to be jetted fat at idle and lean in upper circuit. If the plugs are wet and there is an indication that the plugs...

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Randy, Good point! Chuck I also blew out my idle circuits. Sorry.....forgot to mention that. Randy....the problem is I think he is already too rich. With that design, you can't lean out the mixture well if the jets are too big.

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Chuck, your logic is all sound. Re the box, yep...it could be bad, and I do think it would present itself in this kind of manner. With that said, I found the idle jets were putting out the flame and causing some erratic timing light findings. So, while all the other electrical ideas are good...

MSD Ignition or Weber Carb Issue?

Chuck Please refresh my memory, was your engine dyno tuned with the webers? Have you dyno tuned it since assembled? Your engine is similar to mine if memory serves correct. So, would seem logical they they would be fundamentally similar in carb set up. For ref. my config is as follows...

    Chuck and Ryan's RCR Build

Chuck, As usual....you take the more logical approach.......so rather than hand making your shift knob....you decided to just find one already made, in walnut by the way, with the correct look....that figures. Oh and to top it off, it cost half of what I paid for just the heli-coil, forget...

Serious stuff: how to get GT40 for PS2 GT4

Thanks gents, So....immediately went in the basement and fired it up..... long story short....I'm not allowed to enter the endurance races because apparently I don't finish enough of my races... You have to have at least a 25% completion record. Didn't know I bailed out more than 75% of the...
