    Webber Vs. Holly

I thought the problem was Webber vs. Vettel. Who is Holly and which team does he drive for?

    Early CAV with 302 crate motor...Audi 5000 5 speed...what should I do???

I had the same problem and had my final drive ratio reduced from 3.89 to 2.92. This gave 2200rpm at 110kph (approx 70mph) and made all the gears usable. See: http://www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-tech-powertrain-transaxles/26058-audi-016-cw-p-2-92-ratio.html

    F1 in 2011

I seem to remember the occasional inspired drive from Barrichello. When he was in a positive mood things would often go well but when he was not happy with things then things did not go well. He seemed to have no understanding of tactics and pitstop strategy - I can remember several times at...

    GT40 vs Speed bumps

You can adjust the ride height when you set up/adjust your suspension (within limits). Here the legal minimum ride height is 100mm (4") but I went for 125mm (5") and I can get over most speed bumps without having to crawl but there are a few that require an angled approach. For me, getting in...

Vic Roads: electronic stability control from 1 Jan 2011

From VicRoads web site: ESC mandatory from 1 January 2011 : VicRoads there seems to be an exception that may cover kit cars ("Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicle"): Vehicles manufactured on or after 1 January 2011 (i.e. compliance plate is after 1 January 2011) are required to have a...

Vic Roads: electronic stability control from 1 Jan 2011

A Vic Roads ad in the Weekend Australia announces: "From 1 Jan 2011 when new vehicles are first registered in Victoria, they must be fitted with electronic stability control." Are other states also doing this? Is this going to kill the kit-car industry? Or just make it a lot more...

    Audi 016 Tranny questions.

There are lots of threads on the 016 in GT40 Tech: Powertrains/Transaxles. See if you can determine which type of 016 you have. Here is a link to the 016 workshop manual: August 1979 Audi 100 Workshop manual for the 016 5 Speed Gearbox It came from thread...

    REFERENCE BOOKS

There is also "The certain sound ... thirty years of motor racing" by John Wyer and covers his time at Aston Martin, Ford and the Gulf years. A good read. Unfortunately it is out of print and expensive to get. Also "The Ford That Beat Ferrari" has been republished and is now available at a...

    RF 117 wins !!

Iain, If you don't mind me asking, how did John Bowe become your co-driver? (I know he has done some development work for RF.) For those overseas who may not have heard of John Bowe, his entry summary from Wikipedia: John Bowe (born 16 April 1954 in Devonport, Tasmania) is an Australian...

Batch of Audi 01E 6 speeds

I have attached a spreadsheet that Mark Worthington posted some years ago. Your ratios correspond to FRG and GAZ (presumably on the casing somewhere). They have a numerically high final drive ratio for good off-the-line acceleration and tall fifth and sixth gears for comfortable cruising and...

    Vinyl Stripes

Re: stripping Does this mean you are nearly finished? What colour are you thinking of? I organised my painted stripes without an additional body fitting. Before sending my body panels to the paint shop I put string over them (while on the car) and marked the centre line by making nicks at...

RCR Australia Open Day in South Australia

Some photos from last weekend. I happened to be in Adelaide for the weekend so I rolled up to see the cars (RCRs, RFs, DRB) and meet Craig. It was a good turn out and was also interesting to see some of the cars parked in the street (Ferrari, Lotus, Cobras, Bolwell, etc.). A good day!

Why don't we all drive on the same side of the road?

I hear that when the Swedes were planning to switch in 1967 they wanted a trial period. The plan was that on change-over day all the cars would switch to the other side of the road; and if that was successful after a day then the trunks would also switch over.

Quite a few people have done it before - almost all sourced from Albins (directly or indirectly). Have a look at: http://www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-tech-powertrain-transaxles/26058-audi-016-cw-p-2-92-ratio.html. There are other threads also in the Powertrains/Transaxles section of the forum.

I started with an RF rolling chassis and had it registered in 2.5 years. But is it finished? Still some things to do in the cabin.
