Keep Safe and keep us Posted

Aerial views of Connecticut shoreline after the water receded in the link below. There was a tidal rise in the western end of the Sound from the storm surge as high as 13 feet, then put 10 to 15 foot waves on top of that......and, there's an entire, intact house (att'd pic) from Fairfield,CT on...

    ct registration

Lloyd - I think you'll find the car still has to be designated "composite" in the make section. It will allow you to label it Ford GT40 in the model section. If you would PM me with the CT statute ifo you have, I'd would be very interested as I have already had this conversation with the DMV...

You might as well have jumped.

I had some experience with the Stinger's predecessor, the Redeye, being the first one to fire one from the first military instructional class. Based on that and watching several firings, I'd have to agree that the filmed conflagration was some sort of secondary explosion. The missile, at least...

    Lime Rock Concours

Went up to Lime Rock today for the Sunday-in-the Park Concours. There were some incredible samples of automotive history and excellence. Left with a smile and a sunburn. Of special note, one of our forum members was present, displaying his SLC, known to the forum as AllanSLC/Allanffr. Once you...

Gota love driving the GT40 to work...

For starters, make sure it's a real side oiler. a lot of the Ford 427's in boats were the low compression, small port units, as well as center oilers, similar to the Cleveland's system. And, as mentioned corrosion could be a factor as most ski boats of that era were raw water cooled. Still, if...

Stunning steadycam video B17 and B25 over Arizona

The last flying B29 in America was here in Connecticut this past weekend. We have a non-flying B29 at the same airport in the New England Air Museum (Bradley International). Amazing to see these old birds still in the air and looking magnificent.

I would hesitate to stand anywhere close - in case those decorative beads on the fabric suddenly became schrapnel.

Recommend size for Pirelli tires on ALL four corners

Jim - Do not try fitting a 245-60-15 as a front tire on an RCR. I originally started with a 225 thinking the extra width would help - they rubbed on the wheel well at the rear of the well, on the flare, when turning due to the [small] increase in diameter. I had Ron Randall of Metalmorphous...

    tire recomendations and size?

Yokohama AES 100's, 215-60-15 on the front, Toyo Proxes 295-50-15 on the rear. Tread pattern is a pretty close match. I believe 245-50-15 will work on the front as well. No guarantee they'll clear the wells, but you already have that size, so..... The Yoko's are stickier than than Toyos...

    Spare a Moment?

Pete -- Thanks for keeping their memory and their deeds in the forefront. It seems we don't learn from history, do we? Time to bring our boys home. As a combat veteran of another conflict, I remember the bravery of the Aussie troops. I counted myself among the lucky to have made it home, albeit...

    Two wheeled God...

That's the sort of thing you expect to see on a mile DIRT oval, with much wider bars and a more 'forgiving' surface. Fran - that poster- is it the one with the guy who has one hand on the bars and waving with the other?

Car Racing: When men were men

The last few frames rekindled some memories of my Dad. He raced Sprints and Midgets on dirt, cinder and board tracks. I still have his leather 'helmet' and goggles. He had a bunch of broken bones and a few scars from his racing days. They were a tough bunch.

    The Music Zone.

Hendrix's "Little Wing" or SRV's instrumental version, either is good. Blind Faith's "In the Presence of the Lord", Blood Sweat & Tears' "God Bless the Child", Little Feat's "Rock and Roll Doctor", and finally, I have to agree with Veek's choice of "St James Infirmary" ( I chose this one for a...

FS USA Hoosier R6s 275-50-15s, Four Sticker Tires

Thanks guys. I remember Tim had said these were real sticky and, if used on the street, had a tendency to pick up smaller pebbles but were the real deal for track use. I'll have to clearances as I had a rubbing issue which Ron @ Metalmorphous cured for the tire set I have now.
