    Bob's EV SLC Build Log

Thanks Hector I often think I bit off more than I can chew with this one, but I really am in no hurry to get it done. Picked up a nice fun car to drive for the summer, and having a lot of fun and learning a whole lot, so it is a big win for me. I spent a good year and a half looking for a...

Door sealing issues at high speed? Design flaw?

Yeah, so is pressure differential in side to out, or air acting on the doors? Seems sealing might not help too much, there really isn't anything holding that back corner of the door closed

Door sealing issues at high speed? Design flaw?

see this video Around min 3, as the car is hitting its speed max, the doors look like they are separating from the body. I can't tell if it is downforce on the body, or pressure venting from the cabin. But that behavior can't be right? Someone has to know the owner. Is this a behavior all SLC...

    Bob's EV SLC Build Log

Hubs, rotors, calipers and one set of stub shafts are in. Waiting on the C7 stub shafts from the drive shaft shop. Sketched up my rear adaptor, it is attached below. I am going to retain the stock SLC off set, and use my ccw 18 inch rims for now, maybe go to the forgeline 20/19's at some point...

Questions about SLC wheel offset and carbon ceramic conversion

So got the c7 z06 rotors and calipers yesterday. They are very similar to the existing rotors. Distance from bottom of rotor to mounting surface is identical. They actually fit inside my 18 inch ccw's, barely. About .55 inch clearance. Just need a different caliper mount. So going to keep the...

    SLC Hubs/ race worthy

So I am going ahead with the c7 hubs. Working on a adaptor now, but need to wait or the rotors and brakes to come in.

    SLC Hubs/ race worthy

I thought of that, but none of the information I have shows that as a option for his order. The hub has a mark of WBI 513020 AN615/201/10 on it. 513020 googles to a timken wheel bearing...

    SLC Hubs/ race worthy

OK, I can finally add to this thread. I am doing the conversion to c7 hubs on my rear right now, and I think I have a generation of upright not shown in this thread yet. See pics bellow. Sorry for not rotating them, posting from my phone. What I have looks like the flat upright with an pocket...

Oh, I saw the influence. I suspect some cut and paste was involved.

Questions about SLC wheel offset and carbon ceramic conversion

I hear ya Scott.... MA is the worst for this hobby. I suspect by the time I am done I will have a VT or NH address. But I have been getting vin`Ed receipts. Most of my build is new in box so far. The motors and now the brakes re the only used parts.

Questions about SLC wheel offset and carbon ceramic conversion

Troy, Just checked out your build log. What a chassis! Love the shock mounts and bell cranks. I considered doing a similar design on the rear end of the SLC. Just cut it off and redesign it....but thought it was going to far. Thanks for the photos. Big help.

Questions about SLC wheel offset and carbon ceramic conversion

Ken, Thanks. Great info. Was planning to have to make adaptors for the calipers, should have added that. Looks like on the rear I can just use a slightly thinner spacer, 2 mm --~.078 inch and get he same offset as the Z06/ZR1 which brings up another point. Some people are using 0.19 inch...

Questions about SLC wheel offset and carbon ceramic conversion

So thought I would break this into a new thread, but it is really part of my build log. I am in the process of converting my Gen 1 rear and front upright over to C7 hubs, sing the very good information on the SLC hubs race worthy thread. While looking for C7 hubs, I found a a very good deal...

    Bob's EV SLC Build Log

What you describe, is exactly how the system operates. Each motor has it own sensor, and adjusts output to match. You can do really interesting stuff when you link it to a 3axis sensor. You can apply more torque to out side where to vector through turns. You can drive the left side forward and...

Thanks howard. its really is pushing the envelope, but thats what i like. The system you describe on the train is almost the exact same here.

    Bob's EV SLC Build Log

Traction control is absolutely necessary with this setup, but not only because the drive are not interconnected. There is going to be a motor on each of the 4 wheels. Even dropping the gear ratio in half, the amount of torque per wheel/pound of car is right up on friction coefficient of the...

    Bob's EV SLC Build Log

Oh I think you misunderstand the set up. These are two seperate drives, they are not connected to each other. On a stock tesla a single drive with the open diff drives two shafts. On my set up I am driving a single rear wheel with each drive. The diff has to be locked or the shaft will not turn...

    Bob's EV SLC Build Log

so going with the 930 stubs on the tesla drives. Makes the axels and cv joints easier, and apparently no issue with them handling the torque. everything is ordered, just waiting for it all to come in. Once the new wheel hubs and stub shafts are in I can measure and have 930 CV to axel to 930 CV...

Neil, measure them please. I suspect I will need custom, going to call driveshaft shop tomorrow. Ordered the x-tracker hub kits today.
