School me up quickly on drag racing please

Ah Randy, thanks. I don't think double digit figures would be capable of introducing terror, so in my case..... hours and hours of boredom punctuated by moments of slightly less boredom..... Some of the dragsters that were out there were pretty awesome pieces of kit, and whilst I could...

School me up quickly on drag racing please

Paul got it pretty much bang on! I'm 'quick' but not 'very quick', 11.770 @132.27 mph, nevertheless got four wins out of four runs. First three runs were in Lane 1 at about 12.1 and 130 mph but there was remains of an oil clean up from a blown trans at about 100m and I had to get out of it...

Hello from M6GT fan in Christchurch, NZ

Welcome aboard Wayne. Give me a ring at work 384 9023 during the week. Every Tuesday night is 'car night'. My mates Lim and Leon, both on this board, come around to help with the car. Leon is also doing a M6GT, http://www.gt40s.com/forum/can-am-racers-917s-etc/24671-kiwi-m6gt.html and Lim...

School me up quickly on drag racing please

Some conflicting advice here about shock settings. I think I like Howards option. The car seems pretty quick off the line in standard race trim, I'm just curious to put a number on it. This time next year, when I've sussed the lay of the land, I might do a max effort with drag slicks and...

School me up quickly on drag racing please

Thanks Randy for all that, particularly the comments of an old hand on the finesse of positioning the front wheels when staging. Re all the comments about the trans, you know I think the 930 is bulletproof, it certainly doesn't get any preferential treatment. Feel free to say "I told you so!"...

School me up quickly on drag racing please

Every race start is a drag race and you don't get to call it quits after only 1320 feet! We've got the car, we might as well use it..... On top of that there has been discussion on here, in days gone by, of times a GT40 can achieve. I'm just curious to find out mine! This is the last local...

School me up quickly on drag racing please

Gee, thanks Tim! With a heavy duty tranny chasing me up the track, I could forsee some pretty quick times....:burnout:

School me up quickly on drag racing please

I am doing a Classic race meeting at Ruapuna this Saturday. I have just seen there is a Drag meeting there on the Sunday. If my car comes through the Saturday OK, and the weather is OK, I am sorely tempted to to enter the drags. I still know next to nothing about drag racing but have re-read...

    GT40s.com Spring Fund Raiser

Can't do $50 that way. I see bronze is $35 and silver is $75 so have chosen silver. Also I see my 'life time supporter' tag has now disappeared. Not that it worries me.... Thanks for a great resource Ron.

    GT40s.com Spring Fund Raiser

Ron, In these economic times the chances of new advertisers coming on board would appear to be slim. However, this site must have more value to most members than a partial set of original drawings so I would think most of the 'usual' supporters would step up for this one. I'll send $50 too.

    Scratchbuilt 'Kiwi 40' goes racing.

Ruapuna last Sunday was less tham memorable results wise, but we finished the day with the car intact, more as a result of good luck than good management. During the week I had fitted softer pads and I had hoped to be able to sneak out before our practice session and bed them in. We had got...

    Kiwi scratchbuilt

The last couple of weeks I have been checking over the car, making sure everything is right. There are four race meetings on consecutive weekends starting tomorrow so a fairly hectic schedule but they are only one day meetings. I found some loose CV bolts despite the fact that they had been...

    850 QC transaxle

Taking egomans suggestion a step further..... why not a boss or mounting eye on the top of each sideplate, as in Hewland and others? Makes hanging the trans off the chassis real easy!

    Barn find?

Doesn't take any insider info. It is a matter of public record on this site that the 'long lost' genuine 1041 is resident in Alice Springs. See this thread here http://www.gt40s.com/forum/original-gt40s/13149-wanted-1966-alan-mann-gt40-racecar-photos.html Further to the information in the...

    Hello from Australia

Woody, The last owner of the GT40NZ operation (now defuct) was Dave Harvey, currently in the Nelson area and he is now into T70's. At one stage he still had some left over bits. Here's his web page CULT Sports Cars - Contact Us

    Phil Ware Gt40

What info do you need? It's a kit! As Neal said, similar to others produced at the time. The chassis is very solid, front uprights etc are Holden HQ, usually set up for a Renault trans (these are a good option provided you drive it sensibly), the body is average. The end result is more a...

    Kiwi scratchbuilt

I think you're right Trevor. Again! The irony of it is I have some 'idiot lights' that I have been meaning to fit to the top of the dash for water temp and oil pressure. Unfortunately there have been/are more pressing priorities! Had I had them in, the light would have been extinguished when...
