European Car Events

Hello All, I’m just back in Australia from holidays and trying to get used to reality again. We spent four weeks in Europe and had a great time. My wife’s nursing graduation group gets together every few years for a re-union and the last time it was agreed that the next get together would be...

    F1 in 2011

We’re going through a scourge of glassings here in Perth too, I’m afraid. Also deaths by king hits. No excuse for it, in my view. Personal responsibility seems to have gone out the window. The standard procedure is to state that you’ve realised the error of your ways, you’re REALLY sorry...

    Mini USB Video Camera

Hello There, A few months ago someone posted a link to a very small video camera, which was shown mounted on a model plane. I'm looking to buy one, but can't find the thread again. Could anyone point me in the right direction please? Thanks for any help. Cheers, Lance

Mk II FE oil filter mounting choices

For myself, tradition didn't come into it and the location by the transaxle was chosen simply because it allowed me to get a container under the filter, while changing it out, to minimise spillage. Some locations look like it'd be hard not to get oil everywhere and also hard to clean up any...

    ZF 5DS-25/2 Transaxle Inversion

I’m know I’m going over old ground again, but just in order to confirm, I'd appreciate some input from those more expereienced. I’ve had my ZF inverted, but I’m checking the work that’s "been done". The place that did it was a bit casual about the whole thing and I want to be sure that it’s been...

    F1 in 2011

I'll be in Europe for an holiday this coming year and, as I'll be in the neighbourhood, I'm going to check out the Monaco Grand Prix on the Saturday and Sunday. I'm currently looking to book seats, but not having been there before, am struggling through the selection process. Can anyone who...

    8 stacks with two tanks

While not knowing the specifics of your tank arrangement, so my solution may not work for you, this was a problem that I spent a lot of time considering. I looked at various other fuel system solutions and cross over lines, etc. My solution, based on my research, is as follows. My fuel rails...

    Nostril pieces

Re: Nostril piccies... This is what I'm doing with mine. The 'grill' opening will be shrouded so that all air goes through the radiator. The fans / shroud ensures that all air through the radiator will go through the fans. The nostrils will ensure that all air through the fans goes back to the...

    GT40 Twin Cat / Muffler

Would this brand new, just fabricated, custom GT40 muffler be of interest to anyone? If so, please make an offer. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> It’s a stainless steel muffler with 2 x inbuilt cat converters. 2 x 3” in, 2 x 2 1/2” out...

O2 Sensor / Exhaust Balance Pipe

OK, then. Sampling all the cylinders not required. Check. Plate mounted O2 sensor not a satisfactory format and no room for X pipe or similar. Check. Limited, if any, side benefits of a balance pipe to be had anyway, in this configuration. Check. Assuming monitoring all cylinders WAS an...

O2 Sensor / Exhaust Balance Pipe

A few queries for you knowledgeable chaps out there. I note that, usually, in the GT40 exhaust systems I’ve seen the O2 sensor is connected into one branch of the exhaust, which means it’s reading only half of the motor. My thought is that it would be best for it to be reading all cylinders...

    Lance's GT40 Australia Build

Hello Gus, Thanks for your query. Sorry about the tardiness of my response. I was travelling when it was posted and I hadn't noticed that my build log had been added to. The car has been going a bit slowly until recently. At the moment, it's being stripped back to the bare chassis for...

    Coilover Lifts Kits

I note that KW or KWautomotive, UK offer a lift kit for coilovers. Before I cover old ground, has anyone used KW's product on a GT40? I have AVOs and will need to check sizes, etc, but I've been looking for something for a while now. Regards, Lance

    Cowby builders

Simon, Like Peter, I've gone through the building thing, and you have my symapathies also. It seems that the entire world is filled with contractors who think that craftsmanship is a type of cheese. It's VERY frustrating. Lance

ZF Transmission - Clutch hose routing / Pedal stop

I was proposing to use an internal release bearing for my ZF / AP twin plate clutch / custom flywheel because I like the set up and don't have the external lever for the actuating spindle of the gearbox. In view of the discussion and opinions above, I'm having a rethink about the internal...

    Lance's GT40 Australia Build

Here's what I ended up doing with the opening above the engine. The T shape works OK and looks good. To me anyway. It'll make more sense when the shrouding around the filters, etc is in place, but I won't do that until after licensing. I'm thinking carbon fibre will look good. Lance
