Parts to Build GT40 MKI, roller, Roush, ZF...what else?

ZF- 12-13K; bellhousing , clutch and associated parts, someone did a great breakdown on the costs here on the SPF forum a while back. more expensive than you think

    Quadcam GT40

see the 5.4 thread 1. I would prefer a 302-351 based motor 2.50yrs 3. I prefer an old school look, but stack efi would be a good compromise for drivability if I were looking at modern powerplants, LS series , modular ect.. I would consider building an SLC from fran. It is begging...

    5.4?

my normally aspirated roush 427 has 530 horsepower. that is a lot of power in a 2300 lb package.

    5.4?

the 5.4 modular that is in the GT500 should be of similar width to a 4.6 modular but somewhat taller. The modular 4 valve motors are wider than even a Ford 429 and very heavy, of course the 5.4 is aluminum I believe.

    5.4?

I would think there are adapters to mate the LS to a ZF. I was not talking about the price difference in a Roush and a 5.4, but about the cost to modify the frame, headers, ect..

    5.4?

I am sure it can be done, but probably at a high cost. the motor is very wide and the Monocoque frame is pretty tight even with the windsor. If an FE is used, some frame mods have to be made. If I were going with a modern engine, I would use an LS series chevy. It is smaller, very powerful and...

    Need Help With Ignition Gremlins

Bill, if you suspect that, then pull it now and inspect. You do not need gear parts in your motor.

    more money than intelligence

although that may be true, I seem to run into far more people that are dumb as a post and can't scrape 50 bucks together.

    RM auction

a CAV with a marginal motor sold for 94K at the same auction. You run some serious risks in a no reserve auction. If there is only one guy there that wants a particular car, then the seller is hosed.

    more money than intelligence

I have never thought the phrase "more money than sense" made any sense. All the guys I know with lots of money seem to be very intelligent, that is how they got rich in most cases. Perhaps poor taste might be more appropriate in the above case. I suppose it is all in your perspective.

NACA Ducts: Where Does the Water Go?

as a practical matter, Hi Tech made several mods to the cars for the available and expected market, which of course was not a race driver market. Better brakes, better electrical parts were also included for safety reasons. 40 years has past, so some changes are to be expected I suppose.

    SPF Speedometer Issues

I just put some in a syringe with a small needle and inject it into the open end of the cable

    SPF Speedometer Issues

mine read 30 percent higher speed than actual, so I got the Olthoff gear reducer. usually an erratic speedo means the cable needs lube, use automatic tranny fluid

    Seat removal

Under the car you should see 4 large recessed washers on each side. the console is held in by several sheet metel screws on each side under the carpet.

    Greetings from Savannah Georgia

Welcome Michael. Let me pick your brain a bit. I seem to notice when looking at used Ferraris(360 modenas) that they often seem to have had their clutches replaced with very few miles on them. what is up with that? I would imagine that is an expensive proposition. chuck
