    Is this a Mk3?

Cool! All you need is a 66-69 Corvair windshield, and a 65-66 Mustang back glass with all the moulding and vaaa-waaa-laaaaaah: you gota GT "O" (as in zero). I have seen finished models but most (99%) are done to less than normal standards. There was one finished by a guy who ran a "Honest...

    CAV GT40 half-shaft retainer

Cliff: It didn't occur on the CAV, but did on my wife's SPF Daytona Brock Coupe. At the event we had last August there were raffle tickets sold for rides in the Daytona and GT40 for the Head & Neck Cancer benefit. The Daytona went on quite a few accelerating rides with the Mrs "showing" off a...

    CAV GT40 half-shaft retainer

Ever have a half-shaft loosen or break? You "are" the first one to know. At high speed it can be very dangerous or deadly. Not to mention expensive as it tears the corner off the car. Check out these retainers mounted to the far rear up-rights on the CAV tub. Simple and effective. Forever Ford!

    GT40 on Speedhunters

This car is #1033 and belongs to Tom Armstrong of Kirkland, Washington (may have migrated to socal) He bought it back in about 1989 and campaigned it in vintage events where it wore #23 most of it's life through out the 90's. Tom has been selling off his collection the last few years. He had a...

    Hi from Canada

Malcoum; I'am with the "Cliff & Jimmy" team; did lots of research on the chassis. Did a complete roller nose inspection side by side on the final 2 choises and the CAV won out by it's quality of welds/fit/finish on that stainless tub built by deadicated professionals, not to mention the above...

    Front Tow Hooks

Go to "introduce yourself" section of this form; see page 10 "new CAV owner" dated 11-3-10 for 3 photos showing the custom made quick jacks. The photo under the rear boot shows an added brace to the jack point to keep it from bending anything. I have used a floor jack to lift the entire rear at...

    What color are your headers?

check to see all the colors avalible through VHT. I had a Wikelman formula Libra with the exposed engine out back. Did the body in Gaurdman blue & white with some yellow stripes added, engine in Ford blue, exhaust in VHT bright blue. It looked stunning. Didn't get dirty looking as fast as the...

    demister grill

Years & years ago I read an article about the original GT 40 when it was first appearing. They stated that the vent panel was borrowed from the then Ford Fairlane from 1962 to 1963 version. That panel is very similar in shape and size, although the arc in the vent lay-out openings at the top...

    question for the GT/GT40 corner

I have not seen any late model Ford GT kits, yet. IMO and many others here on this site, the "kit" GT40's currently avalible are "better" than the originals due to many factors. They got it right after fiddeling around for a few years back then with current technoligy and trial by error, sweat...

    Washington State registration related question

It was done July, 2010. It went right through. Their biggest stumbling block was what to call it, due to CAV not being on the Washington state DMV computor list as a manufacture, so using "custom" as like doing a home bilt or custom made it aceptable for the computor to run in the system.

    Washington State registration related question

I ran my CAV through Wa. State and got it titled as a 1966. The people at the desk were confused about what "make" to put it under. It was agree'ed to use "Custom" by Olympia (headquarteds) with a live call by the person at the deck in Spokane. The supporting dockument you must have is the...

Longest distance trip in your 40?

Did 1,400 miles one trip around the Pacific Northwest Spokane-Portland-Seattle loop with side trips. Only 2 issues, RBT/ZF stub axle seal leak, and left rear Spax shock broke off at top of main shaft thanks to a bottomless pot hole. Odometer shows 3k now. CAV #99. Feels good to jump in today and...

    Too much droop.....

Cliff: I just replaced a broken one that arrived after 100 days order from UK. The shocks have an adjustable setting of 12 positions (on mine) that control the internal flow through the valving. The hight is only changeable with the spring retainer adjustment of up or down on the threaded part...
