Considering my fibreglass front and rear clips together likely weigh little more than 150lbs, the weight saving must largely come in other areas. Extra holes in the mono? Did they have an alloy roof?
I have 8212s, which are apparently the aluminium bodied version of the dampers used in some originals. Have tried to find the original reference, but no success.
This happened a little over a year ago. Car is an ERA. Apparently the mono is still straight and, as far as I am aware, he intends rebuilding it at some stage.
I have a very similar setup to what award describes above. Sensor in intake manifold, set at 90˚C, no thermostat, pump located in bulkhead behind passenger seat. Works well.
Like you, on original cars I've seen all methods of mounting you mention, although no rubber or ring showing may be slightly more common on out and out race versions. Go with what you prefer. I went with rubber and chrome ring showing. Removal of the perspex cover is reasonably quick if you...
Yes, I would suspect an air leak Jim. I run two 240As and, while the lines gradually empty after shut-off, the pumps prime up and fill the filter/lines within 2-3 seconds when switched back on.
Made the most of the balmy autumn weather to hit the roads with about 50 other like minded motorists. 430 miles over two days covering some brilliant driving roads.
The original hinge is a pretty simple affair, with a tube sliding through a corresponding tube bonded within the door. Adjustment is by loosening the nuts holding the upper and lower hinge mounts.
This car was shod with the Cooper Cobras. it is my understanding that once everything was sorted and they started using it at pace they switched to Avons, but that is second hand information so don't quote me on that.
