    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Yes, it's an old ad. Go to the GT40 page at: 427 Cobra Country--Ford AC Cobra replica manufacturers SUPER-SITE and scroll down to the ad dated 27 July and "SOLD" 18 September 2010 for a "CAV/Auto Futura for Backdraft Racing." It represents a fairly recent (2009 ish) build. I just used that...

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

No interior photos of this car. You can get an idea from another CAV that is on the web: http://cobracountry.com/GT40s-forsale/harris-GT40-backdraft/harris-cockpit-3b-1332x760.jpg Sam

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Bob, I estimate it will be roadable sometime around early Sep ... barring unforseens. Or "unknown unknowns" to quote Secy Rumsfeld .. Here's a pic of the wheels .. they are 15" BRM replicas, polished alum rim and gray painted spokes. Sam

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Thank you, James! I wish I had been there, and not just to drool on the CAV. I thought I had seen a notice about the new UK distributor. The factory news page has it: CAV | News I assume you examined #178, the F1 Red with war paint. I would love to see a photo if you have one. Best regards, Sam

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Thanks, Mike! I thought you'd approve of the color scheme ;) I was not trying to match you exactly, but CAV didn't understand "wide stripes" the same way I did ... oh well. The motor and transaxle are sitting at Olthoff's in North Carolina. Dennis is going to finish the car for me. It will be a...

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Thanks, guys! Darrin, the turn signal goes in the round hole on the bottom on every CAV photo I have. The fog light goes in the rectangular hole on top. I am told that new to this serial number, bulbs are changed from the back side so the lexan cover does not have to come off. Sam

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Naked Pictures from South Africa This weeks mail from CAV has #180 in the body mating phase. I'm not sure about the July 4th ship date, but it shouldn't be too long now ... Sam

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Ok, thanks, Jimmy. I'll have a look at the 90 deg hinges, then. I certainly can get along with opening the door, also. Just have to remember to leave room to do that. For those tracking post #100 changes, I have been advised of a couple forward fit improvements that begin with #180 .. thicker...

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Jimmy, I've been thinking about the circular window vents. Olthoff sells those, so it would be easy to have them added while the car is there. The other window mod I am wondering about is the 90 degree opening hinges. I don't know how far the stock CAV windows open. Does it open enough to stick...

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Joseph, that would be ideal! My rolling chassis car will be finished by Olthoff Racing vs CAV-America, but I can't think of a better place to have this done. Dennis has many GT40's in his portfolio. Btw, your CAV #8 is gorgeous! Sam

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Johann informs me today that the body is in paint and that there will be some photos soon. Meanwhile, the chassis is undergoing final assembly as shown below. You can see #181 behind, not quite as far along. Notice the A/C condenser coil is in the front on these later cars. Sam

Is RBT Transmission still in business?

It's worth mentioning that new RBT transaxles do not come from Lloyd's shop. They are completely manufactured in Austin TX by HP Gear, a custom industrial transmission manufacturer. Lloyd is the only US order entry point, tho'. All you have to do to order one is get Lloyd on the phone. So try...

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

So today's schedule from Cape Town has the ship date sliding to the right about 6 weeks. They cite some subcontractor deliveries and material shortages as the reason. My chassis is now due to complete July 4, then spend a month enroute. So maybe I get it in Aug/Sep, barring further delays...

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Hi Bob, Yes, the Cobra sold immediately. I didn't even advertise it. I put a sign in the window and let it sit in the Embassy Suites lot during the Annual Texas Cobra Club Rally. One of our club members fell in love and followed it home ;) The engine is complete .. 302 Dart stroked to 347 with...

    Hello from St. Louis, MO

Mark, I am sure I will need to wring it out at Hallett at the earliest opportunity. Dean is working on a secret project that he wants to show off, so I'm looking forward to all of us getting together :) Sam

    Hello from St. Louis, MO

Welcome, Mark! Good to see you here! I'm a little ahead of you in the transition from Cobras. A customer just picked up my ERA Cobra last week, but I went ahead and ordered a CAV GT last Nov. Looks like it will arrive in the USA in late May. Happy hunting! Sam

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

I'm trying to remain calm, Jimmy:rolleyes: Present task keeping me fully occupied is to get the Cobra prettied up so I can offer it for sale this week at the Texas Cobra Club Rally in San Marcos. I am just about there ... Once done with that, I can dwell on the GT. I have specified that CAV use...

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

Sure, John ... here's what has been going on. The car is expected at the port in late May. Dennis Olthoff will pick it up when Johann gets it out of the container and take it back to Mt. Ulla, NC for assembly of the drive train. I have the list of clutch parts, Tilton Super Starter, and...

    CAV #180 Factory Roller

You're welcome, Bob. McLeod stocks a variety of hubs that they can custom assemble into their discs. They can ship direct, or you can save $$ by ordering through Summit. However, I would suggest that you post a question on your build thread so the Tornado guys will be sure to see it. Someone...
