    Hi All

Jayson, if you have not even sat in one yet then I suggest you do so - soon! If you are not over 5'10" you would have no trouble in mine as it's set up for me and I'm a shorta$%e at 5'8". However if you are taller than that then you may need to try some one else's car. Good luck with the build

    Hi All

Hi Jayson, as a fellow West countryman (sort of) I welcome you too. If that is one of "them there" gearboxes I saw on ebay I can see why you bought it. Might be a while before you get round to fitting it as you say, still these oily bits make quite good furniture while you wait to get that far...

Ok I am kind of pumped about this.

The Nurburgring is an iconic track, currently unique and available to all comers as lomg as you have a licence and can get there and pay the "toll" To replicate it an any form in the US would allow Americans to experience what us Europeans have been able to do relatively easily for some time. if...

    Anyone got 18/19" wheels?

George, I would hesitate before going down the oversized wheel route on a 40. I have 19 inch rims on an S Class Merc and the ride is harsh, with the very tight suspension of the 40 already making the ride stiff and bumpy the only things preventing your spine cracking is the higher profile tyres...

New to GT40s in Hampshire, UK

Mark, welcome to the forum and you will find there are quite a few GT40 owners not far from you. As for the MDA, I can offer the following advice. If the gear change is cable drive rather than linkage I had similar issues with mine and have a few things to advise you on that should fix it. I...

Cruise ship runs aground near Italy - Fatalities

I have been on a Costa Cruise ship, the Costa Fortuna (no quips about the price) and they are VERY big ships! Over here they are comparing some of the failings to that of the Titanic (shouldn't have been able to fall over etc). I'm not sure how far into the cruise this was but the lifeboat drill...

    Hello everybody!

Danny, Wilkommen. Where in Germany are you from? Best of luck with the project, a full size RC GT40, where would you run it? could you be the first to drive a RC car round the Nurburgring? love to be kept up with progress on this.

    Hello

Hi Lyndon, I know you will get this from others too, but how about some pics? Start a thread in the build thread section and show us what you've got (so to speak). I always ask this to UK newcomers, "whereabouts in the UK are you?" I travel around a fair bit and am happy to meet up with fellow...

    new to site

Hi Dick, how about a bit more info? whereabouts in the UK are you? You never know there may be someone local who will be willing to take you for a spin (most of us don't need much of an excuse) Hope you enjoy the forum, lots to read here.

    The 1960s

Why, do you want to wear a mini skirt? or have your hair like a Beatle? or is it that you could pick up a GT40 for a few thousand?

Longest distance trip in your 40?

Did 700 miles in one day plus a ferry crossing from France to UK. Driving back through Germany, France, Luxemburg, Belguim, France again before hitting good old Blighty and accross country Dover to Devon. Rained for most of the day and yes I did get wet inside the car, but was still able to move...

    In Car Stereo

Ian, I went down the same thought process when mine was built. I had MDA modify the dash to fit a head set in and put speakers in the doors as you suggest. I disaggree with some of the other comments about not needing a stereo as when you do a long drive you sometimes needs more than that V8...

    New from Guernsey. Channel Islands.

Greg, looks like the 40 will fit the bill, Ford 302 smallblock still available, most have been built in the spirit of early models, and will run at slow traffic speeds as well as "at pace" One issue you may face is the regulations for racing. I'm no expert but I have seen enough on here to know...

    Out of the Closet

Welcome Rich, good luck with the build. RE the paddock comment. great observation there: I can almost see the antagonists firing up their flame throwers and sending great spurts of flame towards their fellows, only to have them die in vain at the unyeilding butresses of their opponent.

Steve, thanks, the photographer did take over an hour and a half to get these shots (although he took many more) and he did have a helper to hold the remote flash, I think this remote light at different angles is what gives the results such depth. The deal was that he would do my shots for free...

GJ, that is also one of my favourites as it shows the colour of the car well. The remote lighting effect changes the colour from Black to Blue (as does bright sunlight) and makes me glad that I chose that particular paint.

Not true, mine has been requested for a wedding previously and although we did not use it in the end I have used it to take a friends daughter to her prom night. While all the others were arriving in tacky stretched limos all eyes turned as we rolled up, V8 rumbling away. She had a bit of a job...

I should have done my homework first, instead of going on what someone else said. Isadora actually died in an Amilcar, although she did nickname it "Buggatti" after her scarf got caught in the rear spokes and broke her neck - a cautionary tale for all open top drivers.

Mark, I think mine too, fortunately I don't have to clean those windows, the house is the old Singer family home, now owned by torbay council and used for weddings. As I see you have a GT40 arch rival I must point out that Isadora Duncan of the Singer Dynasty was killed in a F car so one of...
