Brand new shiny starter showed up today. Took about 40 days to source it. Ended up at Silverstate Ford for around 300 I am going to send the old one out and have it rebuilt as a spare. Anyone have a shop they recommend. Thanks again for all the help - this was a difficult find

I did find a starter for $315 on Ebay. I also followed Ken's advice and ordered the bolts from Mc Master Carr. Hoping the starter is here soon. Will update when I get some details.

Found it on Ebay after some searching. Should be here in a week ( fingers crossed). Ford really has it locked down. Also no joy on the clutch slave either - no registration paperwork no part.

Hi - So it turns out getting a new starter is much harder than I thought. Since the transmission is directly from Ricardo I don't have the proper VIN. Ford will not ship without a VIN. I have been offered a VIN number by kind members. I have removed the starter. Best plan I think is to send it...

Ok - so turns out you do need a VIN number - they only tell you than 2 weeks later. Any ideas?

I've found it all over ford websites for 240-289$. Plus a 35 core charge They did not ask me for a VIN number I cannot explain the lower price - seems $500 is closer to the actual cost - but I have not seen them for that much
