Tips for a noob MIG welder

For the relatively small amount of welding I do (all of which is mild steel), I found the Hobbyweld 5 bottles the most convenient. I bought a cheap solar-powered auto-darkening helmet from eBay UK and it's worked just fine. Like this one:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400995404092 Under the...

    Self Tapping Screws -Suggestions

How often are you thinking of removing and re-installing the hard lines? If they're staying in place for the next ten years, save yourself the aggro of self-tappers and just use sealed-end pop rivets. Should you ever need to drill them out, I'm sure you could squirt some box-section anti-rust...

    GT40 GTD tyres dimensions

I think you need to re-train your eyes to how cars from the 1960s looked....you have become accustomed to modern vehicles with their ultra-low-profile tyres. For reference.... not....

    Renault UN1 output shaft issue

Looks like one of the anaerobic sealants - remains liquid until cases are fitted together, then in the absence of air it hardens up. Any excess on the inside remains liquid and washes off into the trans. oil, so you don't get lumps or strands of excess sealant like you would with a silicone or...

    Brakes

Agreed. The joiners I posted above do not use olives - they are a means of joining two pipes, each pipe to be joined must have a double-flared end.

    Brakes

I don't like the idea of olives in this application; if you need to join 3/16" brake pipe there are both male and female joiners, and they work perfectly if you have the means of making a flare. Either or

    Fuel Sender GTD

Looks like a Smiths "GT40 style" gauge, and would require a 20-220 ohms (or thereabouts) sender:- https://www.holden.co.uk/p/sender_for_smiths_classic_fuel_gauges_top_mounting Though it might be the voltage regulator which has failed, and these are often wired to provide the necessary 10V feed...

    Fuel Sender GTD

Do you have a close-up picture of the gauge (or gauges)? For example, I'm using a couple of these gauges:- which requires a sender with resistance ranging from 20 ohms (full) to 260 ohms (empty), like this Triumph TR unit:- The sender arm can bent bent and shortened to match the tank...
