    Ray Christopher and the GTD

Ray told me a story about that milk float. He was exhibiting it at a show and a chap comes up looking pretty miffed. Asking what was up the man said that he had been put on desk duty as a policeman after one day he had been out on speed gun duty on a motorway bridge. Ray had gone past in the...

Trailer - Need Recommendations / Advice

A trailer to me is a bit like Triggers broom (a UK reference based upon a great TV show Only Fools and Horses). My trailer has had many replacement parts to keep it going but it is still the same trailer! This year I need to change the whole wiring loom as rodents have eaten too much of the...

Ethan’s GT40 mkII fully scratch build

Suggest you rethink the use of Miata suspension as it probably won't take the forces of a car with a big engine and big brakes. And if you can make the chassis yourself then you should be able to make your own suspension arms for stronger uprights.

    Ray Christopher and the GTD

First year we all went to the Isle of Man for The Three Hills Challenge (not Manx Classic, a separate event) it was a bit snowy. The first day before any competition a lot of us walked the course and Ray built snow men at each apex to help us all hit the spot. All melted by race day but fun...

AI creates poem about GT40 and Le Mans in seconds!

I then asked it to create a poem about my wife ( igave the AI her name) and it replied..... Something went wrong Ooops! I then corrected my spelling mistake in my request and it then came back with a poem about an artist and writer which clearly is not my wife!

AI creates poem about GT40 and Le Mans in seconds!

Anyone who knows me will know for sure I could not have come up with this! I asked ChatGTP to create a poem about the Ford GT40 and Le mans and this is what it came up with in just a few seconds. Scary but impressive at the same time. In the realm of racing, a legend was born, Where speed...

A GT40 For The Taller Person

GTD used to make extended footwells as an option for the taller driver with a chassis modification. Gave 2 inches more leg room. Add in a Gurney Bubble, removable steering wheel and suitable suit on the floor I do not see why an AK40 (Southern GT) could not be made to work?

    Please help id this gt40

Don't beleive that to be a GTD chassis too many inconsistancies. If it were a GTD then there would be a chassis number stamped into the frame just under where that blue electrical tag is hanging in the picture showing the servo. The frame is quite different to a GTD frame both front and rear...

    Throttle cable GTD 1991

If changing the throttle cable, use the old cable to pull the new cable through the side panel else you will definitely have to remove the side panel! Hope that made sense!

    New to me GTD40 photos

absolutely no idea! Why have a replica when you can play with the real thing? Plenty of people with surname of Bamford I suspect! I would not jump to that conclusion myself without a whole load more evidence.

    New to me GTD40 photos

the only thing I could add is that the name of Bamford is listed next to this chassis number as the original customer but no first name or any other detail recorded. If you wanted a GTD mk1 rear clam they can still be obtained if you know where to look. Shipping to US might be costly though!

    New to me GTD40 photos

Was reading the comments at the page above. One comment was about the rear clamshell looking a bit different. From chassis records I have here this is listed as originally being a Mk2 version and so if you look closely at the rear clam perhaps it was modiifed to look Mk1 instead? Enjoy your...

    Avon stops production.

The BFG TAs were fitted to GTD 40s years ago before the supply of those dried up. They are pure street tyre with not a lot of grip for our cars. And on track they can overheat very quickly if you are pressing on a bit. Getting a tyre of the right size is one thing but getting one that is the...
