    Issues with chromed suspension pieces?

As many probabley has noticed, alloy steel bolts are allways black. This is becouse alloy steel is sensitive to most plating. Plain steel is not. But corrission, is a factor if closed tubing is used. So, in the case of U-profile and mild steel, chorme plating should not be a problem. I jus paint...

    Rose-joint alignment

So, this is a live rear axle car? Do they have a more specific explanation about the effect of altering the Rc height? Do it maybe have something to do with rules. To me altering watts Rc height is not the same as altering Rc height using instant centre. Goran Malmberg

You mean that they adjust instant centre of the suspension geometry? Goran Malmberg

    Rose-joint alignment

This is a picture of my own rear upper A-arm. The inner heimjoints is having the bolt vertically. It is also so that the treaded balljoint shaft is inline with the A-arm leg, making for a straight load A-arm leg-treaded shaft-spherical bearing. Even the outer, uppright bearing, is having its...

    Carb Problem...HELP!!!!!!!!

On my site http://www.hemipanter.se/ klick The engine ans scroll down a little, ther is a image of a can filled with moisture from my crankcase ventilation catch can. From about 200 miles of driving, and some numbers of starts and stops. The can contains a large quantities of water from...

    Spaceframe Chassis Construction

Just a short reply concerning tube frames. As allready stated, tubs should only recieve straight forces. This means that the important factor is construction, the right way of tubing layout. This is hard to describe in a few lines in a forum, so a good book about the subject is recomended. As...

    suspension

I have made a formula for wheelrate calculation that is from my Suspension book. I made a brief translation on it. A few example of Hz numbers. My own car weights 2600p and have a 40-60% distribution. I have 3 Hz which is a Wr of 464 resp 637 p/inch. 4Hz makes Wr 726-1060P/inch. Goran Malmberg

    Torsional Stiffness assessments

Chassis stiffness is not easely detected by the driver. A 7000N/mm chassis with an wheelrate of say 200p/inch has a fairly good distans from the 7000N/mm chassis stiffness to be detected by the driver. A 20000N/mm chassis will need some 4-5Hz resonsce wheelrate before beeing noticable by the...

    Brake balance question

The brake balance bar should not be used to balance the wrong caliper piston area or master cylinder area size. The adjusting window is fare to narrow and is only for trac or driving condition adjustments. Goran Malmberg

    Brake bleeding experience

The caliper has a big influence on pedal-master cylinder lever. If we got 4x1,3/4 caliper, there is a 6200mm2 pistonarea. For two calipers we got 12400mm2 then. A 4x1,5/8 caliper makes for a total of 10700mm2 area. A 5/8 masrter is 198mm2 and a 3/4 is 285mm2. 12400/285=43,5. 12400/198=62,5...

Wheel Spacers - Good, Bad or Dangerous ?

I didnt read ALL the answers in the treat so I might repeting things. First, ther is generally no strengh or centration problems involved in a properly made distancer. However, the rest of the A-arm system may not be designed to carry very wide spacer load, but the same goes for big offset...

    Brake bleeding experience

I newer use the pedal when bleeding brake system. I fill the master and use a radiator perssure leakage checking handpump. Those pumps have a pressure guage. Select a pump cap that suit the brake fuid reservoir, those pumps have a number of caps. I pump up a 10 psi pressure that is held by a...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

[ QUOTE ] Goran, Interesting list. Did they ever test an Ariel Atom? Kevin [/ QUOTE ] No, they didnt test Ariel Atom. I measured the underbody pressure with a hole in the floor with a welded on pipe, 2mm inside hole. A hose conected to the pipe is leading to a can with coluoured water...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

[ QUOTE ] Goran, Your car is a modified Pantera, and if I remember correctly, it has a very aggressive front spoiler with a splitter and fairly aggressive side skirts? I wouldn’t think a GT40, with it’s rounded lower sides and no skirts, would see as much downforce in street trim. Also, I...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

When it comes to "Supercars" I have a list here. The cars listed is driven by the same experienced race car driver, so the times shows pretty well the performanc of the car alone. The driver has tested ove 300 cars on the same track! It is a high speed slalom course starting of with a 75 metre...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

[ QUOTE ] Matt, A flat under tray will help with drag, but won’t do a lot for downforce unless the car is equipped with diffuser tunnels (In which case it is mandatory). If you have a tube frame car, an under tray will clean up the airflow (although at a cost of extra weight for the aluminum...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

[ QUOTE ] Goran, 1 I think given the period they were built, they aren't bad cars, especially if one considers the performance. I think there could be significant improvements made to some of the existing GT40 replica chassis out there, especially when considering underbody air flow, and the...

How are all the budding chassis Designers fairing?

Matt. Guess the GT40 and the Pantera share the same problem of having a poorly designed underbody. Also, a diffusser is blocking off the engine air circulation. Much of these features nessisiates some redesign of the outside body. In the case of the Pantera there are a terrible rear subframe...
