That's my (old) car. But I sold it, and now it's in Kentucky. There is another builder in Asheville, but his car isn't finished, and I haven't been able to contact him recently. DM me if you have questions.

I'm in Asheville, so not too far. I built an SLC and drove it for 7 years before I sold it last year, so still have some residual knowledge! :) Happy to talk shop and SLCs, or answer questions. Also, have you seen the SLC Wiki? It has a wealth of info. slc-wiki.squarespace.com is the link.

The axles being shipped now (and for some time) are made of 300M, which is what DSS will tell you to use, in case others are wondering about their cars.

In thinking more about this, it doesn't really matter what I think. If you still want to use these in a 4-point configuration, call Schroth and explain the situation and see if you can get a written approval. If so, that would settle the issue. If not, well, that would settle it for me, anyway!

When I was acquiring the harness for my SLC, I found a document that Schroth published that showed a list of cars for which their 4-point harness were approved. It was a relatively small list, and of course the SLC wasn't on it. I can't find it now, but perhaps their "ASM" technology has made...

You use a glass cutter. It leaves rough edges, of course, so you grind the edges smooth on a belt sander.
