    CV-style shifter linkage?

Why would you want to go through the headache of getting a solid linkage working in these cars ... that would not be fun in the least .... cables work perfectly fine as long as you don't do something stupid like having them sit on your headers. On my 917 they run pretty close to my headers...

    Alex's SLC build thread

They're called safety retaining washers for rod ends. https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3068 Only use steel ones. I don't know why RCR uses aluminum ones - when you torque the bolt down they will almost always seize onto the shank of the bolt, making removal an...

    WTB: ETB Digidash 2 Pro

I did - they don't have any old stock. Hoping for somebody with an SLC who didn't use their digidash and went a different route.

    SCAMS GALORE

Oh look, case in point. I bumped my WTB Digidash 2 pro post and within 5 hours I got this wonderful PM in my inbox. " Hello, Mathew has been trying to part out with his ETB Digidash 2 Pro and it's in excellent condition.. I'll suggest that you should contact him to know if it's still...

    SCAMS GALORE

Any time I post a WTB thread on here I get inundated with a bunch of scammers all saying the same line: ' Hello Mate , Contact Dave he's has one he's willing to part with at a fair price. Pm him [email protected] ' (Dave and the email change every time, but the body of the message does not)...

    Dusty's SLC Build

I raised my front section by placing some 1/2'' plywood between the splitter and the front clip. I traced it the shape of the front clip flange on the plywood, cut it up, and then had a bodyshop paint the wood gloss back .... 15yrs later still looks great and nobody can tell I used plywood on...

I GOT SCAMMED - BEWARE OF DOUGLAS PHILLIPS and MITCHELL71

If somebody has 0 posts, or a relatively low number, it's pretty obvious it's a scam. I posted looking to buy a Digidash for my parts inventory and got 3 emails all saying the same thing - "Contact Dave he's has one he's willing to part with at a fair price. Pm him [email protected]"

    RCR’s New In-house Steering Rack

Looks like a nice steering rack ... hopefully the mounting is backwards compatible with the old Maval units for simplcicty .... I recently had to replace the steering boots on mine and the call with Maval started friendly until I gave them the part number, then they were basically like 'no...

    Avoiding Fuel filler static electricity

Why not just run a ground wire from the frame to aluminum fitting (could make it a bit longer and have a boss welded on it)

    Replacement steering rack boots

After closer inspection I found several small tears in multiple bellows ... my car's not high mileage (~3,000 miles since 2008) so if you have an original Maval rack you might want to check yours. The part above - Unisteer 620270 - fits close enough ... it's about one and a half bellows longer...

Fantastic; forum to the rescue ... I'll order me a set

    Replacement steering rack boots

visually that looks similar - 3 large bellows and then a bunch of smaller ones .... if nobody has ever replaced their boots before this might just end up being a guess-and-buy-and-see type thing

    Replacement steering rack boots

Steering rack is one of the original Maval racks used from back in ~2008-2010. The boots on it are starting to show signs of cracking and will likely tear in the next few years. Contacted RCR but they don't stock replacement boots. They gave me the part number so I contacted Maval and they...

Restarting my SLC project in West Texas

Why would you plastidip the car ... this isn't a ghetto ass 1996 honda civic ... and it's not 2010 anymore where plastidipping everything is cool. If you're worried about durability and letting things settle, then you sand/polish the gelocat to a mirror finish .... I did that for my 917 and...

    Need cooling help please

imho I would use regular rubber rather than silicone for cooling system - silicone hoses have a permeation rate that is 20x regular (EPDM) rubber so over time you lose water in the system and you need to continually check coolant levels. If you don't mind constantly checking your coolant levels...

    SLC 24 Howard Jones

Agreed that you should never mix/match hoses and hose ends. I'm not a fan of Earls hose - it was junk a decade ago (although maybe has improved since then, but I'm an Aeroquip fanboy through and through since it's never failed me) I've got Aeroquip starlite and stainless braid hoses that range...

    SLC 24 Howard Jones

If you use garbage Summit/Fragola/Earls/etc. hose then I wouldn't be surprised to see them fail after 5-10yrs ... gotta love on day 1 'I smell fuel permeating from the hose ... surely this will work long-term'. My oldest car is my 65 cobra - I did the fuel and coolant system with Aeroquip...

SLC Superlite: All In Cost Spreadsheet

I would call it $100-150k ... shit always happens during the build that pushes prices up. When I built my cobra I did a very detailed down to the nut-and-bolt spreadsheet of everything ... then when I got into building it I threw out the entire thing because I realized planning it on paper does...
