And so it begins...the AP build.

I've also got straight pipes even though I like my neighbours!! They sound so good. It's got to be done

kva mk1 chassis type C : Good steering ball joins HELP !)

Not sure what rack you have but you can buy tie rod extenders like these at various motorsport outlets https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/292262581110?itmmeta=01JBE2KB9BXMX8MYNDN74BA7Z4&hash=item440c351376:g:iRkAAOSwK89Zwi9z

    Electric or mechanical water pump?

I am so pleased I went with a Davies Craig Electric Water Pump. Having run V8's all my life, when building my GT40 was my first go with an EWP. What a tool. Really keeps the engine cool and if I get stuck in traffic and I turn the engine off it cools it rather than getting hotter (which is what...

    Clutch fluid loss

And another update! I took everything off and improved the insulation across the whole area using foiled backed material (it's not asbestos but it looks like it!), making some little supports up to keep it tidy. I kept my 'aircraft quality' expensive stuff as well. Went on a 80 mile run...

    Clutch fluid loss

Another Update!! So I took the car out last night to a local meet. No getting hotter than average as there were no queues! Not a drip of fluid disappeared. So it's definitely a heat issue. I took the exhausts off this morning to have a closer look. I'm now hoping that actually the problem is...

    Clutch fluid loss

Yes, I run one in my 427 Cobra but I am not convinced there is enough room for one in the Renault gearbox - if anyone knows different I would be very interested.

    Clutch fluid loss

Update - I have taken the sump guard off and there is definitely brake fluid on the bottom of the bell housing. It has to be at the slave or very near. Still could not see anything and still no leak cold even after more pumping! I will obviously have to take the exhausts off but not today. There...

    Clutch fluid loss

A little help please. I am losing clutch fluid. I've changed the master cylinder for a new one. I cannot find a leak anywhere. It seems to be sporadic and I am wondering if it is something to do with heat i.e. is the slave cylinder getting hot and letting fluid go? I sat in the car this morning...

SBF to Renault box adapter wanted

He does, much better than the adapter plate and with a better position for the clutch slave cylinder, down the side instead of on the top. Having said that, I love the quick spin up with my little flywheel in the UN1 bell housing!

    Front Brake Calipers

Thanks for that. I worked out piston area of 4.9 in2 so more than yours. Now my head is hurting!!!!!! I might have a look at the pedal ratio before I do anything else.

    Front Brake Calipers

Will look more online but doing my own math I get a 7% betterment on piston area. Doesn't seem enough. If I could get the fronts on I would be nearer 65%. Probably not worth the money with the rear calipers. Unless anyone knows different!

    Front Brake Calipers

Bit of help and advice please. I've been offered a set of Brembo brake calipers which were originally made for an Aston Martin. I don't think I can get the front ones on the car but I could get the rear ones on my front discs. Question is, is a 4 pot with 32mm pistons going to give me decent...

What CLUTCH to use with Renault UN1 transmission ?

I had to space my gearbox back a few millimetres to get the clearance on mine. I just made up some aluminium spacers. Worked perfectly after that.

    Fan and Water Pump Controller

Thanks for that. That's an option for sure. maybe I should switch the whole system for a Pierburg 400 and Tiny controller

    Fan and Water Pump Controller

I'm having trouble with the Davis Craig Digital Controllers. The first one was bad straight of the box and was replaced with no hassle. Now I've done 1800 miles and the second one is on the blink and won't function. Caused me an issue at the weekend and I had to be recovered. Is there an...

Patching unused bolt holes in Aluminum

I have TIG and a MIG Spool gun but ended up using the spool gun all the time. I find it easier and quicker. I can weld thin aluminium (1mm) upwards and also braze with it and weld stainless. So easy. I find it really useful and absolutely brilliant!

Is it worth putting in a 427 side oiler?

I think that was the right choice! I have a 427 FE in my cobra too and in my view it is way too boisterous for the GT. As others said in earlier posts, just too much stress in the drivetrain. (A lot of fun in a cobra though). I've got a 302 in my recently completed GT, not mad, built with...
