    Need cooling help please

I opened up some pitting when i took a few thousandths off the surface, on the edge of the recessed area. Nothing I would worry about. There is about the same amount of a gap around the thermostat as before, I think that could be a good location to add a thin layer of RTV to act as an oring...

    Need cooling help please

Once the surface is trued, I will manually do that on the cnc mill. I will just make a spiraling circle cut to ever so deepen the areas few thousandths at a time and test fit it till it is flush. The circle part I will program. The fun part will be stabilizing it on the mill. As it is awkward to...

    Need cooling help please

Mike, I found a few issues the the water neck after receiving it and I will dree is up for you. I have attached some pictures below. You will see why it leaked. One side sits flush, where the other is not, it was machined out of true. You can spin the thermostat and these points stay the same...

    Need cooling help please

I live in Ohio and am willing to throw the housing on my cnc mill for ya and take it down flush. Just would prefer to have the thermostat as well to measure for correct fit for you. I'd even run a few test cuts on scrap before screwing up lol.

    Engine options

I fitted one into the SGT/ AK frame, had to modify it a little to make room for the extra accessory belt system the 4.6 dohc used for the supercharger. A 5.4 would fit just the same but wouldn't have required me to adjust the frame as much. I went dry sump. Made my own mounting supports for the...

    RBT 5 transaxle speedometer pickup

Im using a Smiths electronic speedometer that you can adjust the pulses to anything you want. I made a pulse ring that will go on the CV mount on the transmission. Went with 60 pulses per rev. (And tell it tire diameter/circumference) Still looking to either cap or remove the speedo drive on my...

Quaife QBE62G speedo gear output cover/cap?

For the speedo output on the Quaife QBE62G, anyone got a cap to cover the blade that sticks out and is just spinning out in the open? Quaife doesn't have one. I am not using the cable speedo, and just looking for a quick off the self item. If not i guess I will just spin up the lathe and make...

    AKSPORTSCARS #17

I have thought about making cutting out the area under the tunnel and making a removable panel under it. But I have not dedicated myself to that yet. I also purchased little stainless steel louvered panels from a boat store I had planned on placing on the bottom of that area to allow airflow...

    AKSPORTSCARS #17

Made a mess in the garage today. Well everytime I go in there I have to clean up from the last time I worked because it becomes a mess from making things. Milled out two teflon blocks for supports for all the plumbing going through the tunnel. Tomorrow, I am gling to flip the frame and fit all...

    Seat belts

Anyone on here using standard style retractable seat belts? I do not want to, but it would solve a support issue I have to come up with to work around on my bulkhead. I am still figuring out a solution, but I need to get the engine back in before I can add again to verify clearances. If...

Thoughts on a side mirror alternative

Got to see those blind spots! As far as rear mirror/camera setup. I have to do that myself. I have been looking for a setup that has more of a panoramic screen look on the "mirror". I myself was an A&P, now a Technicial Representative. But an using plenty of aviation parts on my build as I...

    AKSPORTSCARS #17

The "bulge" is mostly exactly over the center of the tunnel area. The stick out from the panel isn't as much as the pictures make it seem in the area the seat sits, with a bit of the right side for the passenger. The pulleys are mostly on that side.... so sucks for them....lol The driver side is...

Cut out engine area, will trim a little more by the supercharger snout to accommodate for engine ine torquing over. Riveted in floating nutplates. I feel like I am never getting anywhere with this, but I haven't really gave it more than an hour or so at a time when allowed, and this morning i...

    AKSPORTSCARS #17

Once again traveling for work in the way. Got back just for the two days for the weekend and took some of that time to get the removable panel sort of done. Gives plenty of room for the accessories. The bulkhead in the picture is not the one I am using, it is the one AK provided but I cannot...

    Rob's AK40

I also had contacted AK about them being stiff, was told it was normal and would free up with use. I had asked about known torques for preload because I was going to open them up and reset them.
