    Most preferred build?

Doesn't the value of the build have at least as much to do with the chassis as the engine? I don't know all the builders but I hear RCR a lot. I'm quite sure that an RCR replica with the least desirable engine would get more on the market than my Fiberfab Valkyrie with the most desirable...

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

Progress report and a major milestone: First the exciting news: It runs! ! ! After rebuilding the carburetor and hanging a temporary gas tank, the engine started right up. It shows good oil pressure. This makes me feel much better about all the long hours this project will require. - one...

What transaxle is that? Please pardon me for the newbie question.

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

Thanks Brian! I have seen that site. Sadly it's pretty much a cobweb site, hasn't been updated in years, maybe since 2006. Yes it does have some good info, the old assembly instructions etc. I wonder what ever happened to FiberFab and the people involved? I'd love to learn more about the...

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

Not directly working on the car, but progress on the project. With some helpers, yesterday I assembled this four post lift, and today got the Lotus out of the way and the Valkyrie parked indoors where it will be safe from the snow and easier to work on. This is the view from my desk...

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

Well yes and no. Maybe compared to a serious GT40 replica the build is amateurish. But for what it is, a 1970's fiberglass kit car built by a home builder (I assume) it's really quite good. I haven't seen anything grossly unsafe or that made me wince more than a little. Lots of things I...

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

The plastic side window is gently but definitely curved. Flat would be a lot easier. I have read that the vent window is 60-something Mustang and the accompanying side glass is 60-something LTD hardtop rear door glass. I dunno how hard that would be to find.... And I don't know what the one...

Just bought a FiberFab Valkyrie with Chevy small block

I started a build thread here: https://www.gt40s.com/threads/erikks-valkyrie-rebuild.57507/ Cranking it with the starter, the distributor on the small block Chevy turns clockwise so I think it does not have reverse rotation. The engine appears stock.

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

Questions and thoughts: The things I like least about the car so far are the side window situation, followed closely by the difficulty of getting in and out of the cabin. The drivers side window is plastic, looks home-made. The crank regulator does not work but I can push the window up and down...

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

Progress and status: - It steers and rolls. - The engine cranks over on the starter motor, it is not seized. - I drained the gas and coolant, there were only a few ounces of each, the coolant was green which is reassuring. - Removed carburetor to rebuild it. - Brake and clutch pedals have at...

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

Some details: 2" x 5" rectangular tube frame, not a VW floorpan. So it's clearly a Valkyrie not an Avenger. Chevy small block, I'm told it is a 305. Appears stock, with iron manifolds, Quadrajet, and HEI distributor. Corvair rear suspension, Corvair transaxle with Fiberfab adapters (similar to...

    ErikK's Valkyrie rebuild

Here are some photos of the FiberFab Valkyrie I just purchased. Yes I know it's not a close replica of a GT40 but it is certainly inspired by the GT40. As am I. :)

Ford ecoboost V6 teardown. What is inside a ford V6 twin turbo.

"Another of my metrics on the quality of an engine is Ebay price for a used one. The cheaper they are, the less they are in demand... " Yes, agreed, and it's only part of the story. There can also be big demand because of the hi-po folks or other factors. The Dodge 6.4 Hemi is reallyu...

    Fiberfab Valkyrie build.

It's more brown than red. But yes it is in Michigan. I believe it was stored in Novi MI for many years after the previous owner passed away. It was recently listed on FB.

Just bought a FiberFab Valkyrie with Chevy small block

Well I would have called it brown. Yes it was recently advertised in Facebook, in Grand Rapids MI. If I understand correctly, it was stored in Novi MI for many years after the previous owner passed away.

    Fiberfab Valkyrie build.

Any updates? I just bought a FiberFab Valkyrie, I'm looking for more info, hoping to share tips and get them back on the road. Mine was running when parked 16 years ago, so it was once complete and working, although maybe not fully sorted.

Just bought a FiberFab Valkyrie with Chevy small block

Thanks all! I downloaded the manuals, that's a great resource, exactly what I was looking for, thanks JP! I'll check the direction of rotation, that's easy but I have not even tried to turn the engine yet. I looked for build logs here, there isn't a forum category for them, is there a secret...

Scratch Built in need of Transaxle ideas

yeah for longitudinal and an auto box the Dodge looks great. For a longitudinal manual on a budget it's tougher. Nobody has mentioned Subaru, why? Longitudinal, auto or manual, easy to convert to 2WD as done in the F5 919. I don't know how much power they can handle but some of the WRX kids...

Just bought a FiberFab Valkyrie with Chevy small block

Hi, Erik K here in Ann Arbor MI. Yesterday I trailered home my new to me Valkyrie. I'm super excited about the car. The body and chassis are in great shape but it's been sitting in a barn for about 16 years. So I figure I'll have to go through the fuel system, brakes, cooling system, etc...
