Baseball Card sells for $ 2.35 million

I see that a So Cal collector paid $ 2.35 million at auction for one of the famous Honus Wagner tobacco baseball cards.

As a typical American young lad...I had a large collection of baseball cards,
which ended up being trashed by my sister one day when she was mad at me.
But none of the cards sold when I was young are worth any real money,
so no hard feelings sis.

Is there anything comparable to collecting baseball cards in the UK or down under?

yep, lots of things comparable Mike.

When I was a kid (60s/70s) you could collect cigarette cards, coins sold by the likes of Shell and Esso, football figures, and robertsons jam golliwogs (not exactly pc now, which makes them all the more valuable !)

All of them were to get the parents to buy more of whatever the product was to keep the kids happy ;)
Between myself and my sister I think we collected most things going :D

None of them have ever made that sort of money though to my knowledge.

I thought cars at Barret-Jackson were going for big money. But, did any of you catch the Star Trek auction on the History Channel the other night? The various models of the Enterprise were going for six figures and up, WAY UP. It was unbelievable what those Trekkies were paying for that stuff.
