Inspiration for FFR's GTM Revealed!

So it seems the inspiration for Factory Five Racing's GTM car came from...
none other than the Alessi AR-1

Why would they design something that nice and let it all go in the shitter on the rear of the car? It's like they worked hard and got to the back and said "I'm tired, fuck it" and made it flat.

Are we looking at what may have, er... inspired IT?
Looks like someone who saw a picture of a GT40 as a kid tried to draw it on paintshop from memory 40 years later to me.
Obviously they never saw the rear so decided to whack a shelbyised taillight assembly - which he also only saw as a kid - onto it because "hey, it's a Ford".

Mind you, it does look more like a GT40 than a lot of the cheap "replicas" I see on ebay.

Lower the rear end a foot, stick it in reverse and BOOM :- bulldozer.
