Interest in the GT40

I don't know if it's just because of the Christmas break, but there appears to have been a huge surge of interest in the GT40 (or this forum) all of a sudden. 39 new members in the last 24 hours, compared with 86 new members in the whole of the last 31 days. What's going on?

Word got out that I'm on the site /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Hell it maybe what's going on, right?!

This is also reflected in the number of new members joining the GT40 Enthusiasts Club over the last few months.

Sincere apologies to those of you that have had to wait for membership packs etc, but the interest has been so great, that we ran out!

I've now caught up, and everyone who has joined should now have had magazines etc. If not, please let me know by private mail.

Hmmm...I wonder...

Yesterday I went up to Maine and picked up the broken Audi 01E 5-speed transaxle that I had won on Ebay. The seller had previously asked me by email what car the gearbox was going into, so I sent him a link to the thread I started on the Builder's Forum. During a brief conversation in the frigid weather as we transferred the transaxle from his car to mine, he mentioned that he really enjoyed the pictures of my project and told me that someone at a car museum in Boston was very interested in it. It may be that he forwarded the link to some car nuts who have in turn discovered our little unique corner of the internet. It'll be interesting to see if any of these folks get serious about buying or building a GT40.

The more the merrier, so long as the civility and usefulness of the forum is maintained.
