SPF GT 40 Dashboard removal

I need to remove the dash of my GT 40 to perform some kind of custom work.

Before I start, does anybody has any experience on how to do it?

Is the dash attached to the car by bolts or is it glued?

Any advise much appreciated. Thanks

Do you need to completely remove the dash or just move it forward a bit for clearance? If the latter is the case, it's fairly simple. You need to remove:

-the weather strip on each side down in the corners by the sills
-the plastic covers that run along the sills (later cars)
-the two screws on each side on the ends of the dash
-the demist grill
-the screws exposed by the demist grill removal
-the six screws that hold the center column where the ignition switch is and slide the column out of the way
-loosen and rotate the turn signal lever

Doing the above will give you 3 to 4 inches of working room.

Going deeper requires a bit more effort as you will find out once you get this far.

Thanks for the answer Lynn. Unfortunately I will have to remove the dash completely out of the car to perform some custom work.

What would be the next phase after following the above steps?
